So I am really wanting to start HRT before the end of the year, and to this end I want to do therapy as soon as I can. I have been looking around my area (East Texas) and so far the only therapist that I have found that specializes in these such issues is Rebekka Ouer LSCW. If anyone has had any experience with her or recommendations for someone in the area I would greatly appreciate it. Also any general therapy tips would be great I have never been to any kind of therapist.

Thanks all  :D

I have no feedback for that therapist, but I wanted to wish you luck.  As for tips, just go in and share your emotions.  That's really all there is to it. :)

Based on my experience of living in rural West Virginia I found that the best way to learn about therapists in the area is from a "local" TG group. Local in my case was 90 miles away. Still far closer that the 2-3 hour drive to a big city.

Ok, so I met Rebekka and she is great! I really enjoyed our first appointment and just scheduled our next one. So anyone in the East Texas area that's looking for a great therapist I would definitely recommend her.

@ltl Thanks that really was it, I just tried to be as open as I could and I think it went great because of that so thank you so much! <3

@Joanne I do live two hours from her office and there aren't any local groups but she told me about some in the Dallas area where her office is, so I guess I did it backwards. :P

Congrats BlastRadius! I'm in the same shoes that you are, it has taken me a while to find a therapist who specializes in LGBT issues where I live as well. I hope my first meeting goes as well as yours did.

i was lucky in finding a transgendered therapist so just being open was very easy, she also helped me find a great support group that so far has been all tg 1 f2m and 4 of us m2f. last week was my first group meeting i really like having a chance to talk to other ladies about local support doctors that are more open to helping
one day, one step, with grace it will be forward today

Watch out for therapist's who use WPATH guidelines. It took FOREVER to get a HRT letter. They want to talk forever! Tom Waddell guidelines are the best standards of care for shorter therapy to letter in your hand.
