Grew up in a single family home with my mom. (If it helps any she's a Baptist African American lady). When I was younger and expressed wishes of being a boy, she just made me dismiss it all together. As I've gotten older, she's grown tons more tolerant towards transgendered people, homosexuality, etc. One of my best friends is a butch les, and she jokingly said that if I decided I liked girls, she'd approve if I dated her.

But here's the thing. My little sister (Well.. she's 18.. not too little), said she wanted to go to the gay club here in town, and my mom flipped. Now, if she was so off about my sis wanting to just go to the gay club (I'm very positive she's into men, just wanted to go with her cousin), that just put me waaaay off from wanting to tell her.

I'm getting my hair cut shorter (which she is doing, actually, at her salon), and might start binding in public. I already stopped wearing makeup at all for a time, don't shave body hair, got thick brows now.. so I'm slowly getting more boyish around her. The thing is, should I out-right tell her now? Should I just keep slowly transitioning and just not say anything? I do live at home, btw. >__>

(Sorry, I can write a flippin' novel!)

I think it's safe to say she knows! ;)

On the other note, as a parent I try, but no one treats their kids quite the same. I'm sure you are OK with Mom. ;)
