Hi all! It has been a while since I posted on the forums. Well, I'm back with some good news--I have been on Estradiol for two months now, and Spiro for about three weeks. I'm already starting to see a lot of changes.

There is just one question that has been nagging at me. Is Spiro and E enough to slow, stop, or even regrow hair? I've already lost much of it in my corners, and I can tell it will continue unless measures are taken. IF this combination can help with hair loss, how long should I wait to know before looking for alternative answers? A friend of mine has been urging me to get on Finasteride as well as Spiro, however my doctor has pretty much forbidden anything but Spiro for right now.

So! Does anybody have any insight on this topic?

There's a lot of options on the topic.

One of course is the fineastrid but without a script for it you are without legal and safe measures to proceed.

Two is rogaine/minoxidil which can work well.
Three is a topical DHT blocker that they make into shampoo and conditioner.

I'm currently on just low dose E and my endo has also forbidden fine for now. She recommended the rogaine. I saw a vender for Bosley's affiliate line of hair products and they did a consult and recommended the third option. I have a very little thinning but it is over a wide area so they suggested to start with the topical blocker until I can start fine or another T blocker and should it accelerate before then or should the T blocker not work the to shop around for a minoxidil treatment.

Surgically one can get hair implants but it would be wise to stem the thinning and hair loss before resorting to that or it will just be money wasted.

Also formulations for men's and women's minoxidil are different so see a specialist before buying.
Lastly, and this was one of my fears, is that yes it is possible to come off of those treatments once you have an orchi or SRS. No testosterone to convert into DHT = no hair loss.

But what about Spironolactone specifically? Will that help?

In general Spiro should help because the Testo is lowered and therfore usually the amount converted to DHT is also lowered. which causes the hair loss. I personally would discuss taking Finasteride with your Endo. As MtF there are very little side effects which could hurt you. And the Fin gives you time to adjust your Spiro and E dosis because even with a higher Testo you will see some hair regrowth.

Minoxidil will also help. It does help also Cis women therefore you can take it even when having low Testo.

Well my doctor doesn't want to prescribe both because of risk of liver damage, that's all. He said that as the spiro takes effect and the estrogen in my system rises, the hair loss should slow. Which, this seemed a little unspecific to me--does this mean that when the Estrogen reaches the peak levels and the Testosterone reaches minimal levels, it could be stopped or even regrown? Regardless of which AA I am taking?

Yes it should work this way. As far as I can say Fin or Dut is causing noliver damage and Estrogen should causeno liver damage depending on the delivery method. Only oral Estrogen can cause some liver damage.
My doctor describes Estrogen patches and Dutasteride and according to her this should not cause any liver damage but stop any hair loss immediatly andit should start soms regrowth.

Minoxidil cannot prescribed in any country I know and it is freely available and cannot cause any liver damage.
