Finally, finally, finally!!  :D

After three plus years of waiting it's finally going to happen.  In 27 days I'll be seeing Dr. Bartlett in Brookline, MA to get these off and start a new lease in life.  It is such a relief to be able to envision the day when I won't have to live in binders.

When I meant him he seemed very business oriented without the warmest of bedside manners.  However he scheduled me for 4 hours of time which tells me he is willing to put time and extra effort into his work.  Plus he has interesting techniques to reduce scarring.  I'm also happy I'm going to be able to get all done in his clinic instead of having to go to the hospital.  If anyone here has experience with Dr. Bartlett let me know about it.

I'm excited and happy, I can barely believe it.  Go me.  But yes, this is 3 years after I started hormones.  Not everyone can get surgery immediately.  Sometimes patience pays off with these things.

Congrats!  Gosh I remember your struggle with not being able to afford it.  I feel so old now lol.  It must feel so freeing to know that day is finally coming.

This is fantastic!!! I remember how bleak things looked a couple of years ago, so this is great news. I expect a blow-by-blow account of everything. (Yes, I am a Nosy Parker.)

Congratulations!

My surgery was almost 4 hours as well. I'm interested to know what his special techniques to reduce scarring are, because my surgeon also has some as he previously a burns specialist before he turned to surgery.

Thank you so much everyone!   8)

I've been around, having some fun, just living my life.  I've been enjoying New England quite a bit.  Perhaps because I got to leave my old life behind and perhaps because people are just more open minded around here.  I'm still big into the live action role playing.  I've recently started play Dystopia Rising which is an outdoor camping experience as well as a game which lasts nonstop for 40 hours.  You do everything ion character.  It's a lot of fun and all of these events are very queer friendly.

Apparently Dr. Bartlett uses some sort of gel or clear compounding substance that helps squeeze the wound close in way that reduces scarring?  I'm not sure he should me at my consultation.  I'm going this Friday for the pre surgical visit and I'll ask about it again.

I hope everything is going will with everyone else.  I certainly will give a full account of my experience was it's done.  I'll have a week in bed to do it after all.

Sounds like a sort of silicone gel? I think my surgeon used that as well, took me a moment to figure out why my skin looked extra shiny and plastic-ish in the incision-area.   <.<

Went and got me a ticker, so everytime I post I'm reminded to put down whatever I was about to eat. >.>
