I am curious about this for a while. When I did start my HRT, I had within a year or so my areolas growing massively. And I mean really massive. I did not measure back then but they kind of stayed same at some point and if I measure them now they are 10cm Diameter, that is about 4 inches! Thats huge and way above average for European women. I started out rather big, too, pre HRT I was in the female range. Did this happen to anyone else? I am not complaining although some women seem to be very self conscious about large areolas, but i am curious a bit why this may have happened and if others had something similar. Weird HRT dosage? Genetics? pure chance?

I guess I may be unlucky and they will stay tiny but now I have some hope that they won't!

I would kill for some properly female areola!

I'd heard they tend to stay on the smaller side for us (at least those of us transitioning later in life). I'd love some decent size there but I'm resigned to small and sensitive - anything extra will be a bonus!

Unfortunately I do have big hopes for breast size. My family isn't small there (no idea about family nipple size  )

Probably genetics, just like breast size. It *may* also actually be tied to breast size to some degree  - my wife's areolae got much larger when her boobs went from 36C to 36J (and that growth all happened between about age 21 and 25, yikes).

Mine are much larger than when they started but I have no idea what precise measurement they are, or the average. I'm content with it.

Some females have very small areola too, this is not by any means trans only. Just more common!

My best guess is that genetics play the biggest role & also transition time (i.e. the sooner transition happens, the more one's breasts will resemble other women in her family).
As for me, I've ended up with rather large breasts that can't be hidden - while at the same time having small areola - which ultimately doesn't bother me, seeing as though my wife is content & satisfied with my breasts I figure if they please her well, thats what counts.

Yes  I think my mom did have rather large ones too, but I think I surpass her. 4" - it freaked me out when that happened as I knew no other women who had them in that size. At first it was like "oh cool, yes that is great - its more female. Latere I was like "ok, thats enough now" - "you heard me?"
The oddest thing was that my breast development did by far not keep up with that and I ended up with a BA because basically it looked like tuberous breasts after 2 years.
I transitioned at 23, so I guess age may have played a role.
