The acceptance of transgender sexual identity in regional Australia
Erin Parke, Vanessa Mills and Ben Collins, October 7th

Samantha Cassidy's journey from boyhood to living as a woman in the Kimberley region of North West Australia has been a fight for acceptance from her community, her family and even herself.

"Every single day you wake up and fight with those inner demons; 'Am I doing the right thing? Is what I'm living with worth the torment and confusion that you face within yourself and within society?' But the bottom line is you need to be who you are" she says.

"There are a lot of very, very accepting people out there who take you at face value and take you for who you believe you are. And it's those people who really make a community accepting and worthwhile"

Listened to the audio, well said about the fifty shades of grey and what support needs to be put in place for others experiencing gender confusion.
