Does anyone know what it costs to get tested for this?

I'd also like some advice on as to weather I should spend precious money on this test.

So here's the thing, I've never heard of klinefelter's before now.  Up till now I've been battling chronic fatigue and muscle pain to the point where I often seek out adderall just so I can make through a workday.  I fairly often forget things mentioned seconds after I'm told them, often leading me to have someone repeat them several times, which makes my job a living hell since I have to remember multiple things without writing them down while answering a phone at work.  I'm 6ft tall and very weak.  I'm generally incredibly shy and awkward as well as learning disabled.  I currently weigh 185-190 and have had small(and a bit sensitive I might add) breast since I was a kid.   Up until the last year or two I was unable to grow a beard at all( seems it all the sudden grew in, a rather annoying libido seems to have come with it as well as much more body hair???).  I'm quite often mistaken for a woman at work(which I def don't mind) since let my hair grow out and before that people thought I was 15.  My voice is naturally quite high(and feminine) maybe just a half an octave or less below the average woman( a thing that often contributes to me being mistaken for a woman).  I'm also quite small downstairs, like barely noticeable when its cold(I don't even have to tuck under in a small size panties.) Although its maybe 4-5 if I really get going.

I also have reason to believe I'm infirtile as I tired to have children with a girl when I was 19-(20. We tried 4-7 times a day for a year until it destroyed our relationship.   She got pregnant within a couple months of leaving me.

I spent myself nearly homeless and bankrupting my business this year trying to find out what the pain/fatigue/brain fog was about.   Any suggestions would be great.  Just seems like a great many puzzle pieces fit together and its seems to easy of a thing not to check.

I would like to know too. I had many of the childhood symptoms.

I tried to just go get the test done,
and found a lab that did it,
they would not test me
they demanded a doctor refer me to them and would give the results to the doctor only.
I did not have the 500$ for the test AND more for the doctor, so I never got tested.

so I got colchicum bulbs, a microscope, and other things, and grew the colchicum, was just going do the test myself,
but had a crop failure 2 years in a row and finally gave up

Is there no way to get a complete genetic screening for abnormalities?  Also, referrals anymore are complete bull.  Getting tests that arent in the least bit dangerous to get should not require a referral.

Sophie, you can order a test for testosterone online.  They are generally around US$35.00, prepaid, and the lab sends you the results.  If you have abnormally low T, then you can think about other tests.  If your T is in the normal range, you probably don't have Klinefelters/XXY syndrome.  One of the "treatments" for Klinefelter, if you are male-identified, is testosterone.

But what you are really looking for is a karyotype/chromosomal analysis.

If you have medical insurance, then these tests should be covered to some degree.

Im getting a testosterone/estrogen/progesterone blood test ordered by my GP anyways.  I got that script before i came out.  I already have minor gynocomastia and im almost certain that im sterile, not to mention that most of my upper body hair didnt grow in till my mid twenties....i mean, i had some, but not like i have now. Up until the last couple years, i only had to shave my face maybe once a week, and even now most of my facial hair has that blonde peach fuzz type even though i have mid brown hair on my head and dark brown everywhere else, cept my legs which is also very very light, and not very thick at all, despite my chest growing and insane(and gross) amount of hair over the last couple years.  I am however female identified.  I really am just curious more than anything else.

Old topic, but relevant to me. I have the same physical characteristics. I'm 33 but often get mistaken for several years younger, and my facial features aren't very masculine. I have wider hips, vellus hair, and my facial hair comes in lighter/softer and not very full at all. I also have that index/ring finger thing where they're both the same length, if that has any relevance.

My therapist once told me that I should be checked for XXY, but I never did because the reasons for me being transgender are moot.   I don't actually know if it was XXY, DES, THC, background radiation, something in the water or a bad sci-fi alien abduction conspiracy thing but the fact is that at the end of the day I'm still trans.  Why I'm trans is pretty much irrelevant.  It's not like the diagnosis was going to lead me to a cure other than transitioning.

FWIW, I always looked young for my age, have no brow ridge or adam's apple, had some wicked moobs, fingers the same length (some correlation, but meaningless BTW), and never could grow a proper beard/mustache until I was well into my 30s.
