Just Came out to Supervisor

I came out successfully to two of my female coworkers and finally with their encouragement told my immediate supervisor. I was scared beyond my wits, frightened that in one fell swoop I would be unemployed and unable to finance my transition...

She applauded my courage and assured me I could come out at work with no fear and at the pace I was comfortable with. Since I'm in a very visible role at work, when I felt I was ready to switch to the female uniform, I should speak to the director about my transition. At present, my current and future minor infractions against the male dress code (long hair and soon to be pierced ears) will be winked at. All in all, I'm pleased with how it's gone so far. Now let's see how it goes on Monday with my first dose (hope there isn't any other complications in the way!) scheduled for Monday!  :icon_joy:

That's wonderful news Yukari! I'm so happy for you. It just goes to show that you can find support in the most unlikely of places-like bosses :)

I hope everything goes well for you on Monday!

Thank you Cindy! I'm trying to get used to the idea of being happy. I just am used to always waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I've been so blessed and it makes me feel stupid for being scared and waiting for so long... No to mention feel guilty that most people I know have done so much to help me and accept me. Which I can't say the same for some of my other trans-friends.

It's always wonderful when an employer embraces someone's transition. It means they value you as a human being. :)
The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.

Actually I have an interesting update on this, I have to have a meeting with main boss, who I have been informed is perfectly fine with my... condition? I need to speak with him to clarify my situation and ensure my transition at work is at a rate I am comfortable with.

Essentially, I think they want to know when I think I should be fitted for the female uniform.  ;D HRT do your work!

Yes it is! They even told me how happy they are with the work I've been doing and they want me to continue with them post transition!

It'll make leaving when I get my nursing degree so much harder. :') They are such wonderful people!
