I came out successfully to two of my female coworkers and finally with their encouragement told my immediate supervisor. I was scared beyond my wits, frightened that in one fell swoop I would be unemployed and unable to finance my transition...
She applauded my courage and assured me I could come out at work with no fear and at the pace I was comfortable with. Since I'm in a very visible role at work, when I felt I was ready to switch to the female uniform, I should speak to the director about my transition. At present, my current and future minor infractions against the male dress code (long hair and soon to be pierced ears) will be winked at. All in all, I'm pleased with how it's gone so far. Now let's see how it goes on Monday with my first dose (hope there isn't any other complications in the way!) scheduled for Monday!
