Hi,

I was born with my right jaw dislodged (TMJ disorder) and the hormone surge on the right side of my head. The surge dispersing to small areas and singular points from the center to right side of my head (i.e., the surge did not get to the left side of my brain). When I took my first spiro pill the pain immediately stopped, however, I was unable to walk for two weeks.

Both my parents take thyroid medicine. When I was born, my mom had "Grave's Disease" (a thyroid disorder).

I read online that TMJ disorder can be caused by incorrect hormones.

Before anyone says go to a doctor, I have gone to many doctors, they said I have chromosomal defects, and my autism doctor says I have autism. And many doctors are not useful if you bring in the trans issue.

Anyone have this condition of TMJ disorder because of the hormone surge ? Anyone know why would the hormone surge happen on the right side only ? Is this the pathway of the thyroid ?

Thanks

Genderhell,

That sounds really bizarre.  TMD or TMJD is an umbrella term for many types of a dysfunctional jaw and there are a lot of causes. There are both possible genetic and hormonal causes.  Based on your description, I don't know.  There isn't a single treatment so just keep trying.
There are a number of hormonal surges to the brain.  I'm guessing here but in your case, if there was a surge, it could relate to sexual differentiation of the brain or to the dominant hemisphere of the brain.  (Are you left handed?) I'm going to postulate that the surge you are referring to happened, for some reason, while you were in the uterus and that it affected the hormone receptors in that side of the brain and the development of the jaw on that side of the brain.  Not much that can be done but glad you were able to walk again.  Is the other side of the brain affected at all?
Autism is another problem that seems to be poorly defined.  There are three types and it doesn't appear that the cause of anyone is definitively known.  Genetic mutations are one probable cause.  The thyroid medication?  I don't know which one your other was taking and if she kept taking it while she was pregnant.  Then, there are no studies on possibility of an affect of which I am aware. I might be able to say "maybe" with more information but it would still be a "maybe".
Have you tried a top notch clinic like Mayo or UCLA Med Center or something like that?
I've got some real interesting genetics of my own that is causing some problems and a terrifying amount of pain. (I had ankle surgery last week.  The surgery didn't hurt nearly as bad as the problem associated with my particular issue.)  However, my pain is intermittent.  Yours seems to just keep going.  But I'm on doctor 27 next week.  The endocrinology/metabolism group at Mayo agreed to see me.  I just keep trying.
I can dig deeper if you would like.  I'm a chemist/molecular toxicologist and can do very complete  literature searches.  However, a good clinic would be far better than I. I could help find a really good clinic for one problem at a time if you would like.  I would need more specifics on each diagnosis.
In the end, I can only offer hugs and encouragement right now.

Hugs, Jen
To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

I don't know about TMJ, but 2 years ago I had a mandibulary retractment and maxillary advancement to correct a birth defect so I wouldn't end up looking like my very very distant relative Charles II of Spain. THat was genetic. TMJ can be genetic as well, or you could have had just bad luck in childbirth or something. I'd not fret it.
Hey, you've reached Lauren's signature! If you have any questions, want to talk, or just need a shoulder to cry on, leave me a message, and I'll get back to you.

Hi. Sorry. You misunderstand.

My jaw is fine now. I corrected it. Anti-androgens relieved the pressure on the jaw, and the surge into my brain. It took nine years. As the jaw reset (a cracking sound back into place), the brain relaxed, and slowly I was able to express my original personality. The resetting of my jaw happened slowly over nine years with gradual improvement for those years. I was not able to form a personality before that.

QuoteIs the other side of the brain affected at all?

No. Never had a problem with the left side.

QuoteHave you tried a top notch clinic like Mayo or UCLA Med Center or something like that?

No. I don't like doctors. They are mean.

QuoteBut I'm on doctor 27 next week.  The endocrinology/metabolism group at Mayo agreed to see me.  I just keep trying.

Sounds expensive?
