I am 56 and looking to restart my career.  Decades ago, I was working in one of the top accounting firms in my state, and I was rising quickly.  But, having to live as a woman....I couldn't do it.  The depression overtook me.  And for decades I lived, being overmedicated, going from therapist to therapist, suicidal, hospitalized, shock treatments more than I remember.  Finally in December of 2012, I stopped the cycle.  started working with a life coach.  And am now looking to get back into my profession.  Not sure if that will happen.  But I just wanted to write this in hopes it might prevent others from getting caught up in the therapy cycle.  I wasted so many years looking for the magic pill.  The therapist that would wave their magic wand.  Of course they kept me coming back.  Money in their pocket.

Yes therapy is great, as long as you don't get caught up in the cycle, as I did.
