I just read the most demeaning and offensive comments, heartless and dehumanizing people that don't even know me and think that I'm trash and I deserve to die. Are we really that screwed up? People suck! :'(

Yep. Always best to avoid comments sections... especially on any article about trans* people. It's too depressing and I can do without their toxic hate getting into my head and heart and spoiling my day.

Yeah, sometimes I read them to laugh in hilarity at their bigoted comments but some of these people really believe that we aren't worthy of life.. I'll show them I guess

Internet trolls are hardly a representative sample of society.   Most of the hate that gets posted is from zit-faced kids who have nothing better to do than press your buttons.

It's the people who actually perpetrate the crimes that you need to fear, which are fewer and further between.

Stay safe by not putting yourself in situations that could get you injured or worse.   Groups of intoxicated young men are the ones most likely to do you harm.  I do not go out alone at night, and there are certain neighborhoods that I just avoid altogether.  If a ciswoman wouldn't go there, you definitely don't go there.

I didn't click, I'm assuming you mean the comments section, and I'll second skipping them. Hugs, Devlyn

Yes, you go show them!  No guessing.

But I agree; some people can just be evil and wicked devils.  I don't need to see the comments to know that.  I was even lurking a Grand Theft Auto forum and some of the comments made by people there in response to other people's technical difficulties in their gaming makes me lose faith in humanity.  Some people need help.

That was a two-year old article.  Perhaps things are getting better.

I don't know why people are so hateful on the internet, I've wondered a lot if it reflects humanity's true nature or not.

2 year old comments or not, it's still the way a lot of people think, sad

No, it's not getting much better. I typically avoid reading comments online to articles like this. These people spew garbage when they are safe behind their monitors.
