Transgender student at CO school prompts complaint

Three Colorado high school girls are alleging harassment because a transgender student is using the girl's bathroom.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports (http://goo.gl/XOU5dZ ) that the California-based Pacific Justice Institute, a firm specializing in parental rights, is representing the girls from two Florence families. Attorney Matthew McReynolds says allowing a "biologically teenage boy" in a girl's bathroom "is inherently harassing."

McReynolds sent a letter Oct. 10 to Re-2 School Superintendent Rhonda Vendetti and Florence High School Principal Brian Schipper.

And legally they don't have a leg to stand on. Here in Colorado, we are protected against the discriminatory efforts of groups like the Pacific Justice Institute, Focus On The Family, etc in schools and the workplace alike.

I just think it's disgusting and deplorable that these groups keep trying to incite transphobic responses against school children. How low will they go? When this fails (again) to incite the kind of reaction that they are looking for, what even more horrendous tactics will they resort to??

I was under the impression that this was a separate, and more recent incident...for some odd reason I thought that the "first" report was in the Fort Collins area, and that this "new" incidence was in Florence.

Not sure where I got that idea, but I was thinking that they were at it again. Wouldn't surprise me...have you seen their site or facebook page?? These people claim to be "Defenders Of Religious Freedom" but I don't see them defending anything...I see them attacking transgender children
