Ok, this might come across as trifling but, theoretically, couldn't body massage help with the muscle loss, if only a bit?
Starting from the fact that muscle tension (as in workout) helps it retain it's shape and mass and reducing the tension depletes it, and also assuming all of us build tension up in various places during the day while performing our jobs and chores, couldn't relaxing the "problem areas" help AA's and E do it's work better in reducing the muscle?
When I quit my job I found that my muscle loss has accelerated, due to the loss of everyday strain and stress; well, yes, partly due to the less physical activity as well, but I maintained that in some degree afterwards.
