Hello, all. You can call me Morgan. I'm an art student hoping to make a career out of doing what I love. This is basically me finally being serious about getting help to do what I need to do to be the person I need to be. I identify as male-leaning androgynous (preferring the "he" or "they" pronouns).

I've been attempting to navigate health insurance in this last year that I'm on my parents' plan and found out hormones and SRS are not covered on my current plan. I don't know much about the ACA but it doesn't look good either. So I guess I'm just feeling pretty down about that and don't know where to go from here. I am in therapy and it has helped me sort out my issues, but she doesn't have specific training in regards to GID. There really isn't much of a trans* community in this part of Iowa so I was hoping to make friends here.

Hi Morgan, welcome to Susan's Place! I'm up near Boston. Someone will be by with a Rules pamphlet, in the meantime, I suggest practicing your Australian. You're gonna need it. See you around the site, hugs, Devlyn

Hi Morgan, and welcome.  Trans-specific services are often difficult to find outside of a major metropolitan area.  We do, though, have a few other members in Iowa.

Good luck with school.

Welcome to the looney bin, well maybe the not so looney bin. If nothing else, there are online gender therapists.

Hi Morgan, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 8344 members. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another brother.

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

Hi Morgan!

Welcome to the family, you've just been adopted. And you were just hoping to make a few friends... Sucker. You're one of us now.  ;)

Is your therapist able to figure out how to deal with Gender Dysphoria? If she isn't doing a satisfactory job (or is unwilling to learn how to help you properly), you probably do need to find someone else, I think. Lord KAT is right, online gender therapy might be a way ahead.

Cindy! I cant laugh this hard during the morning! *giggles*

Well Morgan nice to meet you and see what you have gotten into the middle of?  ;D This is a really great family and I know you will love it here. There is so much to learn and do here that even I lose track of time when here. I look forward to getting to know you better in the postings. So, pull up a chair, have fun and learn a lot. Just don't touch Maggies chocolate, people have been known to disappear shortly after they take some!! BIG HUG!!  :)

Seriously thanks everyone for making me feel so welcome. I'm still here! I just tend to be shy in new places, but all it really takes is some time and gentle prodding to get me out of my shell.

We've talked about it and have made enough progress to get this far, so I'm inclined to keep seeing her. She can't help me transition, but she can help me deal with issues as they come up until I'm ready and able to move to a bigger city. I really enjoyed living in Brooklyn...
