I have read this description, namely, that while being on the HRT for some time, one is going to have "girls' eyes". Can someone clarify/explain this effect (if it is an effect or rather a set of multiple effects?), or this is one of those "you know it when You see it" and nobody knows what it is and why that happens?

I always thought I had girls' eyes. 

Since HRT definitely more so, but that may have more to do with the amount of makeup I've been putting on them. 

For some reason, girls' eyes appear larger in the face. Guys eyes tend to look 'set back' more. Something about the brow area and the skin around the eyes I think makes guys eyes appear smaller. I can't explain it, but mine have now changed to 'guys' eyes' on T when they used to be very large.

I think it's likely psychological

It probably has to do with muscle development, but I'm no genius.

Anyhoo, girls' see colors more clearly than men, but men notice motion more easily.  So it may ALSO refer to that.  Not sure if that changes with HRT, I'm no expert.

I have noticed the white of my eyes have become a much cleaner bluish white than they were before, and the pigment of my iris has definitely softened and lightened up, but I could be telling myself that.

Other than that, Idunno.

HRT may possibly distribute fat to around the eyes and actually behind the eye balls causing the eyes to look less hollow. Generally, male eyes are deeper set. Shaving away of brow bossing and orbital rims will definitely feminise the eyes.

Shaping the eyebrows helps, too.

I've been noticing my eyes are changing. Thought it was my imagination, but they're definitely girl eyes. Wonder if hrt had a part in that.

Are you sure it's not the mascara? My eyes always look girlier when I put some on.

I'm not sure what medically causes it, but yeah, I have indeed noticed that after a while on HRT the eyes of MtF transsexuals stop looking quite as sunken, and start looking a bit more wide-eyed and starry-eyed. Might be muscle loss in the face making the features soften, might be changes in the eye muscles themselves, I don't know.

I see this in my own face. Suddenly I have eyes whereas before they were very small. There is definitely something to this idea.

I haven't noticed it with me but I have noticed it with others. I wish I knew what their secret was?

Hrm... it may also have to do with muscles changing/reconfiguring.  I've noticed that if I make a conscious effort I can raise my eyebrows a touch and widen my eyes slightly, and it makes a *huge* difference in how feminine my face looks.  In addition to pigmentation and/or melatonin and fat redistribution, it may just be a change in the default at-rest state of the eyelids/brows.

Something to experiment with, anyway.

That's what I've been telling people to try and do, it's hard to pin point but what I do is I basically 'force' my face to pull back toward the temples.  It makes them appear wider and rounder.

I also push my lips up a tad to decrease the appearance of a long face.  All within manageability.

I don't know what changed, but I've always had kind  of squinty eyes. Three months into hrt I looked in the mirror and was like hey where did those big round eyes come from.

I remember a few months ago someone said that their limbal rings were becoming thicker and darker on HRT. The limbal ring (the dark ring around the iris some people have) is supposedly a universal beauty marker; something we're subconsciously drawn to for whatever reason. Not sure of the validity of that statement, but if it were true I could see that affecting the perception of someone's eyes as being more feminine in appearance.

Maybe that has something to do with it?

I'm personally hoping for more prominant limbal rings. I already have pretty dark ones, and I've always been happy with my eyes. If they just get even more intense I'm going to feel like such a hottie!

Just the thought of having "girls' eyes" makes me giddy with excitment to start HRT! I get closer every day. Not much longer now. I can't wait!
