Hi everyone!

I'm Mindy.
I joined because I want to talk to others who have gone through what I'm going through.

I just turned 29 I'm a chef and photographer (I don't make much money at either, lol).
After years of anxiety depression and repression, I finally accepted that which I could no longer deny...I am a woman.
I'm seeing a physiologist who specializes with gender identity issues and I really hope for HRT within the year (tomorrow plz!).

I'm so lucky that my partner is pansexual and completely devoted to me. She says she'll be with me every step of my journey.

I'm still working in boy mode and when we see her family but mine has been completely supportive... A little distant and my dad doesn't quite make eye contact with me right now, he still gave me a hug last time I saw him so I think it's just a matter of time.

Oh I'm a huge nerd! I love learning about science and watching Star Trek, Farscape, Doctor Who and Adventure Time.

My biggest goal in (right now) transitioning is mastering makeup (I'm so bad at it right now!)
My biggest fear is losing my job.

Hey Mindy!
So you're one of the lucky ones. All it seems from your post left to do is to get the ball rolling, which you've already started. Good on you!
Hey, you've reached Lauren's signature! If you have any questions, want to talk, or just need a shoulder to cry on, leave me a message, and I'll get back to you.

I'm really sorry to hear about the years of depression and repression, but as you'll see, that is one thing that you'll find that a lot of us have been through, and I'm extremely happy that you've found the only viable cure for your problem, which is admitting that you're a woman and not a man. Big step!

I'm seeing a physiologist who specializes with gender identity issues and I really hope for HRT within the year (tomorrow plz!).

I'm really glad to hear that you've taken immediate action and have found a good therapist who can help you out and get what you need.  :) It may take a few months to get the proper letters, but as long as he/she is going through the right channels, you'll get them.

I'm so lucky that my partner is pansexual and completely devoted to me. She says she'll be with me every step of my journey.

You're really lucky to have apartner who is so devoted to you. I've seen marriages break up because of problems like this, but as long as she's with you from start to finish there should be no problems.

I'm still working in boy mode and when we see her family but mine has been completely supportive... A little distant and my dad doesn't quite make eye contact with me right now, he still gave me a hug last time I saw him so I think it's just a matter of time.

Give them time to adjust. The more that they see of you as a woman the more that they will adjust to you being as a woman.

My biggest goal in (right now) transitioning is mastering makeup (I'm so bad at it right now!)

Make an appointment at a department store for a makeover and let the cosmetologist show you how to apply makeup. That's what I did, and I've learned so much from it.

My biggest fear is losing my job.

If you go and talk with your boss about the changes, I'm sure that he'll understand and make the necessary changes.

Welcome, Mindy!

You've found what I believe is just about the best, most accepting and supportive family in all the world.  I hope you find a home here, like I did. :)

It is amazing how many things I have in common with you...

I'm lucky in having a pansexual partner like you... we still have our struggles, but it is wonderful to have someone in your corner who loves you (and lusts after you) no matter what!  :)

I'm not out to all her family yet, either, but out to most all of mine.  Some of them are having acceptance issues, but they are loving and supportive.

You'll find a lot of sci-fi fans here, too (I'm a happy member of that camp).  Doctor Who, Torchwood, Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Farscape... you name it.  :)

Work can be an issue.  I'm out to my main boss, but I contract through him to a client that may not understand at all.  If they would, I'd be happy to remain working here, but until I have a backup plan I'm not even going to broach the subject.  Make sure to have a plan B and plan C before coming out to your employer... it will do wonders for your confidence, for one thing, and you wouldn't be the first woman to be surprised by intolerant employers finding a reason to fire her, alas. :(

*hug*

Thanks for posting, hope to see you around!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

My partner said to me that this is all happening so fast. It's only been since Halloween (the day the glass shattered).

But I told her it's like when we used to watch how I met your mother, but then one day we heard the laugh track... It had always been there the one day you realized it was telling you what was funny now you can't unhear it. I think she really got it. :D

I look forward to getting to know people here.
