I have had plenty of things happen that everyone says is not possible. I was 6' 1'' before and now I am 5' 11'. My voice has softened and pitch has risen. My high and lower ranges have gone up. and my foot is one size smaller. I have lost an enormous amount of upper body strength as well but I just find using different technique can allow me to still do everything. almost.

Exactly!!!!  Exactly!!!!  Except I'm like, old.  :(  Take age out of the equation.

I don't feel old!!!!! ;D

Hugs,

Jen

To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

Age is just a state of mine. If you feel young, you are young. :) I used to think 20 year olds were old!!!! It is all in the head and relative to how you see things. :) just how I see it.

In 12 months I have gone from 175 cm (5' 9") to 170 cm (5' 7").

About 0.4 of inch loss every ten (10) years is expected in humans, specially females, after the age of 40 YO.

Your sudden and big loss may be an indicator of osteoporosis or other serious health problems.

May be wise to have a bone density check

That is my first move. I had baselines done pre-HRT

Interesting. I don't think I've lost much height on HRT, maybe a single inch. I measured myself a few years ago at 5'8" and a few months ago at 5'8". I think I used to be 5'10" at one point though.
"There was a sculptor, and he found this stone, a special stone. He dragged it home and he worked on it for months, until he finally finished. When he was ready he showed it to his friends and they said he had created a great statue. And the sculptor said he hadn't created anything, the statue was always there, he just cleared away the small peices." Rambo III

Hey Cindy!

Please, let us know if there is a problem.  I'm recovering from ankle surgery due to caring to much weight...it just collapsed while moving a swim platform.

I'm hoping the height loss is due to a change in posture and possibly some loss in disk hydration.

Hugs,

Jen

Well I had the scans, spine and pelvis. No change from baseline. My bloods came back all normal.

Mmm
No idea, I'll have regular monitoring. My endo who has a very large TG practice wasn't perturbed.

It's definitely possible for some people. I used to be taller than my mom but now it's the opposite. Also I noticed the mirror baseline is heightening and am 23.

Have we ever considered that being taller is what you wished for as a male but being shorter may be what you now wish as a female. Thus when we were males we took the high end and now as females we take the low end - this could make us seem to lose height. Also there is definitly height loss due to age - you start losing height from age 40 due to changes in the bone muscles and joints and over a couple of decades some people lose 4" plus without health problems. So we all get shorter each day ... HRT does significantly reduce muscular mass and thus some height loss. Have fun its all going your way...
When we first start our journey the perception and moral values all dramatically change in wonderment. As we evolve further it all becomes normal again but the journey has changed us forever.

Just thought I'd chime in as another instance of the widespread anecdotal evidence of height loss on hrt. In my first year on hrt, I went from 5'9' to 5'7' 3/4. It's a difference I can see and feel.

There has also been another psychological shift that might have had little to do with changing physique. About four months into my treatments, I noticed for the first time that women around me felt like they were my size even if they were a bit smaller. I didn't realize it to that point, but I had always experienced myself as larger than women I was around, even if they were my same size and perhaps even larger. I have no explanation for this perceptual shift except that hormones really do make us experience the world in a different way.

Just measured after reading this and I was surprised...
went from 5'10" to 5'8.5" after 3 months.  But I've also got that lower back pain, so it might partly be a difference in posture too.
