so i originally was taking cyproterone as my androgen blocker till i had to stop taking my hrt because of a broken leg injury, dang bike accident and now when i went to get my prescription resubmitted by my endo, he decided for me to start taking spironolactone instead because of the increased risks associated with cyproterone, my estradiol dose is the same but i am noticing that my reaction to the medication is not nearly as fast or effective.

i am just wondering if anyone has had experience with these medications and would be helpful in telling me why spiro would be a better option, because i am really thinking about scheduling an appointment with my endo to get my prescription changed back,

I was on (low dose) Androcur for two years and on (larger dose) Androcur for the last six month.

While (low dose) were enough to bring my T levels down I was not at all satisfied with the changes.
When I upped the dosage I experienced some changes, not much, but it was noticible better than (before). My blood levels stayed the same though.

Sadly, (it) had some serious effects on my mood. I got very depressed and even suicidal. Two weeks ago I stopped taking it and since three days I'm on Spiro.
My mood improved greatly over the last two weeks, but I can't say anything about the feminizing effects of Spiro right know. (Except I have to pee a lot and lost some weight.)

I started Spiro a few days ago and it seems like the peeing a lot issue is steadily declining. My mouth gets a bit dry so I drink a lil more water than usual, but it's getting better. Hope that's a good sign, lol.

I have never been on spiro, so I have no direct comparison, but I started HRT with  cyprterone acetate. When my T dropped to zero, my endo cut me back to half. He says in Canada cyproterone is the go to AA, and only prescribes spiro to those who can't afford cypro.
All I know is that it works very well for me, my Dr. has extensive TS experience, and I don't have to pee constantly. My .02 cents

I was on both.
Spironolactone first then Cyproterone acetate.
Spiro does a good job but i feel it is not as effective as cypro. 
I had to take a very large dose of Spiro to get the same effect of a very small dose of the Cypro.
I also hated the diuretic effect of the Spiro.

The chief endo here doesn't use Spiro because he says it restricts breast growth.  I get Decapeptyl by injection.  Are there still not enough of us to collect meaningful statistics?
