I'll be going on Spiro soon and I want to start ASAP once I see the endo.
I will be asking this same question to my GP on Friday... so no big disclaimers necessary ;)!

I'm on an ACE Inhibitor for High BP (Lisinopril). A day or two without the drug isn't that bad for me.
Spiro is contraindicated vs. ACE inhibitors (due synergistic effects vs. BP, I think). -- actually vs. hyperkalemia. I think I'll be OK...

(not sure if link will work correctly)

How many days should I stop taking my ACE inhibitor before starting Spiro?

Interesting.

I'm also on spiro and an ACE inhibitor (benazepril) and my doctor prescribed both of them. I haven't noticed any weird side effects like death yet LOL....

I hope that you find an answer to this; it's got my curiosity up now.

You've got to warn me about things like this, Eva.  I totally just spit out my coffee!

I think it's more the risk of hyperkalemia than actually having the condition.
I ingest a ton of potassium (leafy greens... I'm a rabbit <-- :))

What about licorice (reduces potassium, but may increase BP)? Has anyone on spiro with a high-ish potassium diet had a potassium problem?

With the ACE-inhibitor, looks like I can just stop it or stop it a day ahead (I've already missed at least 30 days in the last year -- given how many I have left after a refill :P).
