I need some help.
I've decided on finishing off all the available Pokémon games and I'm starting with FireRed.
I'm stuck on deciding how to build my team, any pros that could help me with it?
So, basically my starter will be Charmander. I'll want to have Alakazam no matter what. Other than these two, I'm open to suggestions. I've been thinking something like Charizard, Vileplume, Alakazam, Vaporeon or Cloyster, Jolteon or Raichu (so either Vaporeon and Raichu or Cloyster and Jolteon). One more slot is open, maybe Dugtrio, Dragonite or Haunter/Gengar?
Also, maybe some advice on how to build them and what moves to get? I don't really understand the EV-system to be honest
Thanks in advance
I just went through SoulSilver, HeartGold, Platinum, White, and White 2.
I don't think you need to worry too much about EVs or IVs. EVs can be changed but IVs cannot. It's nice to try and get a decent nature and IVs for the Pokémon you capture, but playing by yourself is easy so it's not required. Playing competitively they are really important, and it's recommend to get good IVs and a nature for legendary Pokémon.
I also don't think its that important to worry about who you want on your team when
playing by yourself. I mean, if you're struggling then you'll just grind a few levels. I made my teams around the method of only using Pokémon from that generation and ones that looked cooler, for example, in Platinum I only used the third generation. And I also used Pokémon that were really effective against the Elite 4 and Champion, which I actually steam rolled through so it's not a must.
So to sum up, do whatever you want really.
I would take Cloyster, Jolteon, and Gengar as they're the ones I prefer out of your selection.
