Especially straight or single mtf's. So many aren't interested in this route that it's difficult to know if it's a realistic goal at all.

I also wish more male SO's would join the site. -.-"

The obvious obstacle for single or straight MTFs having a baby through sperm banking is finding a willing surrogate for the baby.  A lesbian MTF clearly does not have this obstacle.  Moreover, any straight MTF with a male partner is likely going to have a tough time persuading their partner that she is to be the biological father not him.

Yeah, I think there are more obstacles in general for those without am obvious surrogate.  If you have someone that is willing to have the child, then things are much easier.  It's possible and I suggest everyone that wants biological kids to do what they can to maximize their chances.  That means delaying hrt and banking if you truly do want kids or suspect you may one day.  I myself choose not to have biological kids as it would be too hard for me to be a biological father and would never want to subject any future child to an awkward situation.  Besides, I had very little potential (biologically speaking) to have children prior to hrt, so I never really had a big say in it.  I'm fine with adoption and hope I will be able to go down that route in the future.

Reading this really made me sad. For me having a child that way would be horrible and I wish I could have a biological child but it just isn't an option for me. Adopting isn't such a bad way to go, you give a child a chance to live a happy life, someone who is already born in our world and for whatever reason doesn't have a family of their own, you can give that to them.

It might not be as great as bringing life into the world there are other woman who can't either. I can still be a mother to a child who will always know me as their mother.

That's my thoughts anyway. Although thinking about adopting is way too far in the future for me, right now I can barely take care of myself.

I conceded back as a teenager I'd likely never have kids of my own, and took the usual steps to prevent it (condoms, they work.) It turns out the first woman I married was more hostile about having kids that I was, no compatibility problem there, we were a happy enough pair of DINKs. The woman I am dating(may marry) has a single kid, that's fine by me. Truth be told I'm already aging too far to be a good parent longevity wise, my partner isn't motivated to adopt, I am not preserving DNA. I acknowledge my dad died before I hit twenty, it seems like a bad precedent to attempt kids too late.

edit added: I am VERY hopeful for future generations of MtF to have functional uterine implants. I'd be thrilled to have a kid of my own, science just isn't there yet.

Banking sperm is something I can't make my mind up. I don't plan on looking into HRT until next year, so I have plenty of time to ponder some more. I'm interested in whether my sperm would be good candidates to freeze or not. I guess they test to make sure, but I don't know.

While a biological child would be awesome to have, I'm all for adoption. That will likely be my only chance anyway since I am only into guys. I don't see many people willing to carry a child to term without it being theirs. Bio or not, I really want children!

Watch out! I was saying the same thing 11 months ago and now I am running into related logistical issues :p

I'm straight and interested in it, and know a wonderful person who is willing to be the surrogate mother if I ever decide I want children, but it's incredibly expensive. I'm hesitant about spending the money on it when I have so many other things to take care of. I'm not certain I want to have children, so it seems like too much of an investment right now.

Still, I agree with the OP: I'd like to hear more about this happening and would also like to see more male SOs post (it's encouraging to see) as well as know their opinions on the subject.
Why do I always write such incredibly long posts?

I know one thing holding some people back, other then price, is the leaps and bounds that medical science has made. With there already having been 4 women who have had temporary uterine transplants done and 3 more women who have successfully carried to term because of a temporary transplant. I know im waiting and already had 3 different women say that i can have there girl parts and several eggs so that i can experience being pregnant.

So will you hear of one from me....eventually i hope.

I will post when I do this. Their are agencies that you can pay to carry your baby for you. That's the route my boyfriend and I are taking after we get married next year
