Hi everyone! I'm a 28 year-old genetic female who came across this board in search of hormone info.  I must say after reading some posts here, you ladies strike me as very classy, dignified, intelligent, with high grade character.  I've not visited the FTM transition boards but I'm sure the same can be said.  You sort of up one level in the human experience after the suffering you must endure.

I've always been very curious of transexuals and the belief that you were born with the wrong sex seems understandable to me.  Nature is not perfect.  I do not understand why people fail to understand this.  I think this society are misogynists to a degree.  It's acceptable for FTM transexuals but not okay for MTF.  I also watched Transgeneration which is fascinating to watch how one crosses over to a sex.  There are so many questions in my mind I'm sure I'll ask soon.

My best friend was a lesbian in high school.  It breaks my heart when she told me she wanted to kill herself because she was gay.  I can't imagine what it's like for you transgenders. 

I wish you all the best luck in your transitions.  Living in lies can destroy a person.  I hope I get the chance to know you all here.  And for myself I can learn how to be a woman from you.

This is a good observation and one that is seldom discussed.  FTMs are less shocking in most cases due to the power of testosterone in changing facial and body features.  Beyond that, there is an implicit feeling of "of course women want to become men, why wouldn't they? ie, men are better", whereas MTFs are viewed with contempt "why would anyone want to become a woman? ie, a second-class citizen".

Of course, we women know better

Can't imagine how we might feel? Try this. Imagine if you woke up in the morning and were male. How would you feel knowing that you are a female, with all of your life experiences intact. Now imagine you were this way from birth and everyone insisted you can't be a girl your a boy. Then you start to get an inkling of what it is like. Just a little window into our world.

As an FTM, I agree with you, it is easier for us. Still no cakewalk, but easier than for MTF's. As far as cross-dressing goes, you can push the line a little more if you're genetically female, but there is a line there, and at a certain point you do get flack.
