Hi everyone,

I'm new here. I'm in the midst of transitioning (already mentally did), but I just began hormones.

I've been taking Spironolactone for a period of 3months, and just lowered the dosage and started on Estradiol (Gel) 1 month back.

However, I accidentally took a urinary flush and support supplement 4 days back and it contained herbs that was not supposed to be taken with spironolactone. So, I stopped both the supplement and spironolactone almost immediately (because the effect of the urination was so immediate). I ended up with the feeling to need to go to the bathroom for the last 4 days - it is this sense of urgency whether or not I am intaking fluid.

It is still ongoing, and now I am somewhat worried as it is driving me nuts, and I read somewhere online that excessive oestrogen in males can lead to frequent urination and an enlarge prostate.

I am quite certain on transitioning, but I am concerned about the healthy effects.

The thing is, I am not sure if it is the result of the supplement that is driving this constant urge - because I've already completely stopped taking that and spironolactone which are obvious suspects... While I was on spiro, and estradiol, I never had issues with this urgent need to urinate...

Any advice? I am thinking of speaking to a doctor about this when I had back to Singapore (I live in London) in the next few days... but he is completely unaware that I am medicating with oestrogen... so... I don't know if I should risk that.

  Any insight would be appreciated!

Hi divineintervention  :icon_wave:

Welcome to Susan's  :)  Glad to have you here

The discussion of dosages are not permitted on this site

Quote8. The discussion of hormone replacement therapy(HRT) and it's medications are permitted, with the following limitations:
A. You may not advocate for or against a specific medication or combinations of medication for personal gain. This is strictly prohibited.
B. You may not discuss the means to acquire HRT medications without a prescription. The discussion of self medication without a doctors supervision is prohibited.
C. The discussion of recommended or actual dosages is strongly discouraged to prevent information obtained on this site from being used to self medicate.
We can not in good conscience condone the self administering of these medications. Not only may self medication be illegal, but HRT medications can cause serious health problems, and many have the potential for life-threatening side effects that can only be detected and prevented with proper medical supervision.

Please be sure to review

And that was a dosage bomb! I saw it before the edit! Welcome to Susan's Place, I'm from Boston. Get to a doctor, these meds can kill you if your levels are off. Hugs, Devlyn

There seems to be a lot of misinformation in your post here.  By all means, speak with some sort of medical professional concerning your HRT regimen.  You should also avoid the herbal supplements, which are largely uncontrolled in the manufacturing process.  You are just asking for trouble.

Op, please listen to the posters in the above quotes.  It's for your own safety.  If you feel like you must immediately urinate after taking a med, that seems like a weird side effect.  I know people that go more frequently after hrt, but not immediately upon dosing.  Better to be safe than sorry.   Also, please only do this under the care of a doctor.  There are many things that can happen if you aren't really careful.

I am under a doctor - I just checked my gel: it seems that I got the dosage confused...  :embarrassed: what do I do if I've been overdosing...? The weird thing is I checked the symptoms for excessive estrogen and I have not had any... well, I'm stopping the estrogen before I consult the doctor in Singapore because I am unable to get an appointment for the one in London.

Thanks for your comments - any advice on what to do when overdosing would be helpful...

I'm not a medical professional, so I don't feel qualified telling you what you should do nor do I have any good advice on your situation.  Nonetheless, if you are really worried about an overdose and feel that it's urgent, you can always go to a hospital emergency room to make sure you're okay.   It's better to get serious health advice from someone with the proper credentials to assist you.  Good luck with everything, and I hope everything turns out good.
