Hi girls I've just been doing a lot of researching on top SRS surgeons (Saran, Brassard, Suporn etc) and am currently at a loss on who would be the overall best choice for me. And was wondering if you girls could give me any advice?

What I'm looking for most from my surgery is as follows.

-Top quality job (Obviously)
-Use of mucous tissue so I can at least experience some lubrication.
-Excellent cosmentic appearance. (Labia, Vulva, Vagina itself etc)
-Good Depth (5-6 inches or so)
-Good to great sensation for exterior and interior stimulation (Clitoris play and intercourse)
-Affordable costs (I'd prefer not to pay more than 20,000)
-Good aftercare facilities (I hear Dr suporn, who was my first choice, has quite bad after care so I've kind of turned off him)
-Pleasant clinical environment

Currently I've been sitting on Dr Brassard but his costs are very high  (20,000) and am wondering if maybe dr Saran would be a good choice (I'm not sure if he uses mucous tissue though and am worried he won't produce as high quality job)

Please share your experiences and any advice in picking the best surgeon overall for me would be greatly appreciated :).
Be yourself regardless of what other may think of you. Tis your life not theirs. :)

as far as quality is concerned, you can't go wrong with brassard. he is a top-shelf surgeon who—for me—gave excellent results cosmetically & functionally, uses urethral mucosa, has wonderful aftercare facilities and a great clinical environment. there are other people who offer this as well, of course! but what i will say is that i think he (and mcginn, from what i hear from others) do the best job there is, for those paying out of pocket, at providing the best service for under 20k. (last i checked they both charged 18.5k for surgery/hospital costs; this may have changed in the last two years or so.)

I am also a Montreal girl and very happy with Dr. Brassard.

If you look at the total cost i feel he has one of the best values.

Only thing i would say with your list of wants. This is a major surgery, not everything works out the way sometimes we wish and if you hold to high of expectations it could fall short. All the top doctors try to give you the best they can but sometimes things happen.

I wish you luck on your choice. It has to be a choice you are happy with.

I for one have been 100% happy with my Doctor.

I'm another who went with Brassard. I have full orgasmic capability, 5" of depth, self-lubrication to a reasonable degree (maybe not enough for prolonged intercourse, but enough to notice)... and had a gynecologist tell my insurance company I'd obviously had a hysterectomy! And the aftercare was just fantastic.

Of course, I only have my own experience to go by, and I'm not saying the other top surgeons *aren't* as good. But he was worth every penny to me.

I am a Bowers' girl and all I can say is that I got all you are asking for plus, just 3K more than you want to think about.  I would actually have been out of pocket slightly more than that even for McGinn or Brassard based on some other factors, and for Thailand, I would have been closer to 30K.  There are costs above and beyond the surgery and hospital fees.

I am currently recovering from my SRS, done by dr suporn and I can only confirm: the aftercare is fantastic. You won't get such an awesome aftercare with another surgeon.

About Brassard, for those who had srs with him, why did you choose him over others and feel he was the best for you?  I've been doing some early research and know people that went to him that were happy with the results, so I'm leaning that way myself at the moment. Just curious as to what makes one surgeon a better fit for each individual.  It's at least going to be two years from now for me, but it's never too early to research.

Op, I know people in real life that went to Brassard that had nothing but positive things to say.  I'm pre-op myself, so I can't say much besides sharing what I've heard others say.

As a Montreal girl for me it came down to experience and aftercare.

Experience he has been doing Srs for many years and his record of sucess speaks for its self. I also know many, many, many girls who are also Montreal girls and are 101% happy with the work that was done. One other thing when other Doctors over the years come to Montreal to learn his and at the time Dr. Manards SRS procedure i felt it puts him high on my list of top rated SRS doctors.

After care, you get 24 hr nursing staff care at the residence. I felt that is way better then staying in a hotel room and had to rely on a phone call for help if needed.

You need to be confortable inside who you choose. As i said other times i feel the well know SRS doctors can all do a great procedure. It comes down to us with the aftercare to make sure it stays clean, dry and free of infections and more so the dilations are a key to sexual happyness.

Everyone needs to make there own choice. Mine i made and happy with my choice.

Added: also who ever you choice, do not have un-realistic expectations. If you keep them to what SRS surgery can give you, you will end up happy.

As Izzy says, it was primarily the aftercare. All the top tier surgeons I looked at were similar for price (he's slightly cheaper, but not by much, and exchange rate meant I couldn't count on that anyway), and all had terrific results. He and McGinn are about the same distance away for me, but what won me over was the ~8 days in the residence with 24/7 nursing care. I felt much more secure knowing the immediate aftermath would be monitored by experts.

It was more than worth the money in the end, too - they provided EVERYTHING, from lube to underpants to meds, and I did end up having some "middle of the night panicking" questions that the nurses were very reassuring about. I also had bladder spasms from the catheter, and got handed oxycodone at 2 am; I can't imagine trying to manage *that* from a hotel/my house.

As long as you pick one of the well known doctors your experience and results are likely to be positive. Simple as that.

So I shouldn't go to Mexico and meet someone in an abandoned warehouse?

I'm in the same boat trying to choose a surgeon as well.  I want as natural looking and feeling as humanly possible and would like zero complications.  I don't have enough colon left for a do-over.

I'm limited by needing to drive from Los Angeles.   I have almost been in a plane crash and am never flying again.   I still have nightmares about it.

Anyway, as far as I know this limits me to Meltzer, Bowers and Alter.   Alter is local to me and is convenient, but I know little of his track record.  Bowers is more of a known quantity, and I have family and friends in SF, plus my wife has an office there  .  Meltzer looks good as well, but Arizona is one of those places I don't really want my money going for political reasons.

Am I missing anyone?

Jill -- the staff at Peninsula Hospital which Marci Bowers uses is absolutely great, pain meds on time, and the food is actually good!!  A happy 11 month PO here.  If you like to eat, when you are out for the three days between hospital and packing / catheter removal, the whole town of San Mateo is a gourmet restaurant heaven!!  On the way back to my place in the San Gabriel Valley, we stopped in Monterey, and Solvang for more great food.

I'm quite interested in contacting Brassard.

I know my insurance will cover SRS (100%), but I'm from the US, and his practice is in Montreal - not sure how coverage (if any) would work?

Might I assume you and your insurance are from Canada?

Teeg : Nope, I'm in the US and paid full price for him. :)  Unfortunately, I don't know of any US insurance companies that do cover out of the country surgeons, and in your case if you're lucky enough to have them pick up the tab, you probably do want to take advantage of that!

The insurance (sorry, that was confusing) was a later deal; they wanted proof that a 35-year-old woman "needed" to be on HRT. They demanded I see a  gynecologist and have her fill out some letter to document that I needed it. I assumed *she* at least knew she was looking at a post-op vagina, but it turned out she couldn't tell.

I just returned (a month ago maybe) from my free cosmetic revision from Dr Suporn... his aftercare is excellent, provided you get to Thailand. As for the original SRS, the aftercare was brilliant; a month of daily visits, clinic visits, etc. I lacked nothing, and felt very taken care of.

As for depth, Suporn is about as deep as you can go.... immediately following surgery, I was at 7 inches. After a year and a half of fairly lax dilating (I'm terribly lazy:) I'm still at 6 inches solid, 34 mm diameter (the "big one"). Cosmetically and orgasmically very very good result, also.
Blessings,

D
