 >:( this angry little face is the result of my first purchase of mens underwear in years.  Oh how excited I was to finally buy myself a pair of man pants.  I decided to go with what I used to wear before I got banned from them, opting for a pair of those tight trunk style boxers. Now Tuesday is the only day I can wear them safely (partner at work all day) and I had them hidden in my office.  So this morning I go commando in readiness for my new pants, arrive at my office, put them on, feel great and then.......THE LEGS KEEP RIDING UP !!!! It is driving me mad, the material rides up, bunches up and then starts to hurt.  What's wrong with my man pants :(

Has anyone tried FOCX ones ?  I appreciate this is a company who does underwear for women but in mens styles, but just wondered whether anyone knows how these fit.

Pants rant over for now ;)

I'm not familiar with that particular brand. So they're women's underwear that are just styled to look like men's?

If so that might be the problem. I've worn similar styles that were intended for women but made to look like men's underwear, it's supposed to be a more masculine style of boy shorts I guess. The problem with those is that there isn't enough crotch room and the legs aren't tight enough so they ride up easily.

I gave up on wearing any type of women's underwear a long time ago because they all did the same thing. I switched to men's boxer briefs and have never had that problem with them (unless the elasticity in the legs wears out). Men's underwear naturally have a lot more crotch room and the elasticity in the legs is tighter so they don't ride up. They're made to be comfortable and functional whereas the women's versions sacrifice comfort and functionality for style or cutesyness.

Back to commando now :(

The pair in question are mens ones, from Next and appear to be the correct size for me, maybe hey are just too short in the leg ??
Perhaps they just aren't a good design or cut.

The FOCX brand look like mens trunks but are for women, I am tempted to try these as I think my partner will be more accepting as technically they are womens...just look like mens ;)

Maybe you're right, it could be that they're too short in the leg then. I usually stay away from the kind with short legs because I always figured they would ride up so I don't have any first hand experience with whether or not they really do. I'm sure there are guys around here who could give you better advice on that.

It might be worth giving the FOCX brand a try too just to see what they're like. Good luck in your underwear search!  :D

When I first started wearing boxers/boxer briefs (I really have no preference between them) I found that they both did that, a lot.  I stopped wearing them for a while because it was always too difficult washing them without getting caught, but I started wearing them again I didn't have that problem.  I don't know what I did differently and I wish I did so I could help you.  Maybe try wearing them higher or lower, I think I was fretting about getting the waistband at the correct height before.  It still happens occasionally, but the only recent time I can remember I was wearing nothing except overalls which have slits in the side so you can get to the pockets if you're wearing trousers so it was easy to adjust them.

I sometimes have that problem with underwear with shorter legs, closer to the kind of trunks it sounds like you're talking about. I'm always fine with boxer briefs with longer legs. It can also help to wear them down a little lower. I think my waistband usually sits about halfway down my hipbones.

Perhaps I need to go for longer legs then, or maybe less tight.  Its funny, but I don't remember having trouble years ago, but then I didn't have middle aged thighs to contend with  :o

My quest for man pants will continue and I will report back on the FOCX ones.

Cheers guys xx

I wear ones that are quite a bit too big in size. Yes they stay on. But seem to work a bit better. It's trial and error a bit for this sort of thing, and when you find ones you like pray they don't change them. :)

WARNING: I say underwear more times than I am comfortable with in this post, and I worry I may be slightly incoherent...

I just went to target and got several 3 packs of undies  :-\ and they work fine.

I notice you say "partner," if you are in a "lesbian" relationship then I know heaps of lesbians who wear men's undies. They are just so much comfier (and are anti riding up because they don't hug your thighs as tightly as boy cut women's undies).

One of my lesbian mates had a big rant about boy cut women's underwear and pretty much ended up screaming "just get men's underwear."

If you are in a "straight" relationship things might be a bit harder. You can still play the comfort card but you'd have to be sly, like saying "if you can spend a week in these I will wear them" and then get the itchiest frilliest pair you have for him.

If all else fails I suppose you could try the idea of boy cut women's underwear.

I always have the problem of boxers riding up but that's just because of my body shape, I carry a lot of weight in my hips and ass which boxers really aren't designed for. I buy just cheap generic stretch jersey trunks which I've found to be the best. I also get them in a bigger size so the legs are longer, if they're too tight on the thighs they roll up. Even with this problem though they're miles comfier than womens boy cut styles,I think they only sit comfortably if you happen to have thighs that don't touch in the middle :P

Why do you have to hide boxers btw? I always thought there was lots of styles of female underwear that looked similar to certain boxers.

TheBear

Hey Lake!

Writing this from my hospital bed in my own room. Hooray! Coming out to my OT paid off! Also noticed that male nurse always attending with a female one. That's new. Strangely reassured by that despite my anatomy mismatch but I feel more comfortable psychologically!

Ha! Sorry, but my initial reaction was to chuckle when I read your rant! I've experienced similar, so agree with the other posters. It's trial and error. Even same brand trunks eg M&S differ in style from each other - some have ridden up a little bit but others not. The best ones I've found so far for not riding up my legs at all are Marks & Spencer 2 Pack Autograph Plain Trunks with Modal - £15.00 Product Code: T144903A. They are a bit longer in the leg than my other M&S ones (the picture doesn't give a true idea of that) as well as being uber soft and comfortable. I'm waiting for a post Xmas sale and will be straight online to order a few more packs despite not being cheap! They are the best by a mile so far for my legs. I have large thighs - muscular but with darned woman fat on the insides at the top, which I despise. It's gotta go!!! FYI - I bought my correct size for all my M&S underwear and these Autograph ones are perfect. My other M&S trunks are 85% ok. They're a little shorter in the leg so do ride up a bit but they don't become uncomfortable or annoying. I just yank them back down over my woman fat when getting undressed. Otherwise during the rest of the day, they're not bothersome.

Don't do what I did initially in my desperation and buy a cheap supermarket multipack of men's trunks! I was away on holiday and completely dysphoric so in my haste, whilst getting provisions, I visited the men's clothing aisle. OMG. Not a good first experience of men's underwear! The seam was in the middle on them (I didn't know different then) so not meaning to be crude, they kept working their way into my back crack every 5 minutes. Needless to say, I spent a week constantly fiddling with my darned underwear as I wasn't ever going to resort to my women pants!

My advice is therefore look for trunks etc that don't have a middle seam, none of my 3 M&S multipacks do, nor do I think better manufacturers make them that way. I note that they're not cheap but in this instance, I'm glad I spent the extra money as I have 5 pairs of supermarket branded ones that are useless as underwear. I might wear them as night shorts occasionally but nothing more than that. Or bin them...!

I LOVE wearing my men's M&S trunks and I adamantly refuse to wear women's ones ever again. I even proudly wore my trunks to theatre for my surgery, which were obvious when it came to the dreaded bed pan time in recovery afterwards. The female nurse looked very surprised! I found it amusing but I didn't want to feel ashamed.

The other posters are right. I know of a couple of lesbians who wear men's underwear. My wife wasn't initially very happy with me wearing them but after a couple of weeks of edginess, she no longer comments. I don't know if that's a good thing or not as she doesn't say 'hey, you look as sexy as h__ll in them' but nor does she say she's not comfortable with me / my reasons for wearing them. I have exuded more self-confidence since wearing them though. Maybe she's resigned to it now, or just keeping schtum to not hurt my feelings. If only I could be more open with her and she still accept me for who I truly am. Maybe I'm not giving her enough credit. I have a binder but that's currently hidden well in the back of a wardrobe until I can wear it more once I've shed some chest fat. Will only be able to wear it on my own initially but I would like to think that would change as time goes on. I can't go back to hiding permanently in my female body anymore.

Let us know how you get on with future pant purchases! :-)

So the pants saga continues !  Thanks for all the suggestions and advice, am def going to look at longer legs and those M&S one....good old Marks and Sparks ;)

Today my FOCX ones arrived.  Now this is the company who makes boxer trunks for women, but they look just like mens.  This may sound a bit odd, because why not just buy mens eh ?  The thing is my partner told me years ago when we first got together that I couldn't wear mens underwear anymore as it freaked her out.  "If she wanted to be with a woman, I had to be a woman".  However, these are like a loop hole for me.  Men's style, but for women, with female sizing on the label, so technically she can't ban these ones !!

So, out the pack and they are nice.  Bit short on the leg, but not riding up as bad as the other pair I tried.  I may brave a photo for you all later ;)  There's a problem though - they make me feel funny.  Is this what dysphoria feels like ?  The waistband makes my stomach hangover a bit and I feel they make my thighs look bigger.  So now I feel all fat and podgy, and more womanly....bad times.  I don't want fat thighs, I want muscular legs, like a man. Going to put them away until I've lost my Christmas chubber and have a nice toned stomach again.  Sigh

Lake James

Oh and Bear....I so hear you on the middle seam thing lol  When I wore them years ago, one of the first pairs I got had a middle seam, front and back.  Well, that was an experience, every time I sat down, that seam would erm...go where it wasn't meant to.  Most distracting pair of pants I've ever worn !

TheBear

LOL !!! There's distracting and there's uncomfortable! Thankfully (or should I say regretfully?) my supermarket branded ones were so ridiculously baggy that I didn't get front seam issues!

More M&S ones in my underwear drawer now as M&S had a one-day 30% off sale on Saturday. The package arrived early today, which was super speedy as it wasn't due until the 28th at least.

I hope you'll feel comfortable wearing them soon. My dysphoria isn't quite as bad now because I feel more confident in my boxer trunks but I still have all my other body hate issues 24/7. Wearing them kinda makes me want to pack now too (is that weird?) but I can only do so when I'm on my own and then not with a proper packer. Not sure how I'd hide that one at home!

Thanks too for your pm. I can't see a way to reply at present but will do as soon as I can work it out. Happy Xmas in the meantime :-)

It looks like you may have gotten it figured out but heres what I found for me anyways.... if you have a female body shape (ie hips) then the longer boy short style that are made for women but look like mens work better. If you're body shape is more that of a male shape then the mens underwear work better. This is because the womens account for the hips that women biologically have and compensate with the extra material there so that they don't pull which causes them to ride up, just go up a size or two as needed for extra crotch room if you pack. I also find the longer legs work better to keep from riding up but I always had even those ride up on me when I had normal female hips.

Think you're right about body shapes and which styles are better.  When I am being good with my diet I slim down to a very nice boyish build, but as soon as I put weight on it goes straight to my dreaded hips !!

Packing - now that's a subject that I've not thought about much until last week.  When I first found this forum the whole thing about packers totally freaked me out, like TOTALLY !!!  Then I bought that first pair of boxers and whilst I was standing around in them, my eye was suddenly draw to a rogue sock on the floor.  Well you can all guess what I did next and you know what....it felt kind of good...probably not for the sock though ;)  So, no, doesn't sound weird at all.

How do I upload a photo ?  I click on the insert image icon but it doesn't seem to do anything ?

You need to upload it to an image sharing site first (imgur, tinypic, photobucket, flickr etc (the first two don't require an account)).  Then you'll be able to find the link to it, copy and paste that and then put it between the two [ img ] [ /img ] codes which appear when you press "insert photo".  I'll explain again better if that wasn't clear.
