Ms Grace

I finally got around to changing my name in my iPhone contacts - why would I even need my name in my own contacts list? Well, apart from the fact I still haven't bothered to memorise my home number it was so that Siri would know who I was and also address me by name. The other day I finally got sick of her calling me by my male name, it feels so much nicer to have her call me Grace.

So that's the background...

Now I have my phone set up to get work emails via the work Exchange Server and I happened to notice on my iPhone that an email I'd sent to everyone at work, from my desktop not my iPhone, claimed to have come from Grace. To say I was a little freaked by this would be an understatement! The cat's out of the bag now, I thought, believing I'd accidentally outed myself to the entire staff. Turns out though that it is only on my iPhone, anything it receives from me (work or personal) converts the "sent from" name to Grace. Any other device still has my male name. Yeesh, so confusing!

I had a similar panic, my girlfriend text me asking me if I knew my name on snapchat was Alex! Turns out that she's edited the username on her phone and I came up to everyone else as my initial and a string of numbers.
