I know I haven't posted in such a long time but I think this one is worth posting about. I am finally out to everyone. Well, I think. I have been in the process of navigating coming out at work as well as to my family. In the past few months I have been very successful. My immediate family knows now. The past couple of weeks I have come out to a few friends at work. They have been very supportive. Almost all my family has been really supportive with the exception of my father. I am still waiting for him to come around.

Last Friday, I had a meeting with the head of the HR department and the CEO to fill them in on my transition. The same day Kiaser insurance became available to the company. So I am now a member of Kiaser. Yay! The ceo actually broke down in the meeting and started crying saying that he could not imagine how it must have been for me. Very touching. They set up a meeting to discuss all the details with my department heads and myself. Again the meetings went well. About an hour ago now they had the meeting that announced all the particulars to my division of the company and stated my new name (not legal yet but they are honoring it where they can) and said that I will be coming back after my 2 week vacation as Olivia. I was not there for the meeting but my friends that knew that were there said literally everyone was super supportive. The head of HR broke down crying while doing it and the CEO had to take over the meeting. All responses were super positive. I am very lucky to be employed where I am for sure.

So following that I wrote the facebook post I have been dreading and looking forward to for sometime. I just stated it plainly and told my family I love them. It has only been a couple minutes with that post so it remains to see how everyone else is going to take it. I am hopeful that most everyone will be supportive, not sure.

Just thought I would share some big news with everyone. I am very lucky thus far. I am super excited to be full time FINALLY! I am going to go and donate all my boy clothes shortley. :)

Fantastic news Olivia.  And don't forget, Kaiser pays for your SRS and the 5 to 10 day stay in Oakland, or Scottsdale Arizona.

Congrats.

I am glad everything with work and coming out. It is one huge stress point for so many. Enjoy these moments and keep them close to help when there are those days you just wish to run and hide.

Again Congratulations.

Thanks you to all of you. So far the FB outing has been going very well. Alot of people I haven't talked to in years showing support which is nice. Only a few Family member have stepped out of the shadows to show support. But I will take all the Family I can get. Earlier I had my boss and one of the other department heads, (who started when i did and we became friends about 5 years ago) text me and say they had no idea. But they also said that if I ever needed anything to not hesitate to it asking them. Very heartwarming responses thus far. Very very lucky.

You're obviously a very nice woman, or your boss and fellow workers wouldn't have given you the support and approval you've gotten. It's very likely that your family will come around, too, hopefully sooner than later, and believe it or not it's only going to get better! Congratulations, Liv!!!!

My impression is that the efforts for protecting transgender rights made by the Obama administration finally come to fruition in the U.S. In my country, a few politicians are trying, but it is far lagged behind.

Anyway, congratulation on your coming out and supports from your workplace and family.

Just do it.
