I came out to my dad finally but he just made a few jokes about it and turned on the TV. I didn't really get to say much and felt uncomfortable saying anything else after the jokes. I know I needed to tell him but really wish I didn't. Trusting people tends to backfire on me and I get the feeling this will too.

The pretty little high school girl in Colorado who was shot in the head has just died. I wish these lunatics would do us all a favor and leave other people alone and just take themselves out at home.

I just found out about that and I was about to post how this has made me unhappy too. It was such a waste of life and I feel deeply terrible about the pain that the family, friends, school, and others are facing from this tragic and unneccesary death.  For me, it seems like there has been a lot of tragic deaths happening recently.  :/

Oh and my mother is drunk....again.  That has made me unhappy....

I had read about this earlier also but was too upset to post  :-\  This school shooting stuff confuses the s--- out of me

How is anyone other than school staff and security still able to walk onto a school grounds with a weapon and start shooting up a school?

It's not the national/state gun laws that need to change, it's the school policies and security measures that need to be ramped up to ensure a secure learning place where students can safely gain an education without the fear of being randomly maimed or murdered

I think, though, that my old high school has taken it too far. The place is now literally a prison; from 7 to 3, no one is in or out. You have to pass through a metal detector when entering school. I don't know about you, but that actually makes me feel less safe, and more like a criminal.

Exactly this, security has gone haywire all over, from TSA and the patriot act to grammar schools.

I got pat down clearing security in Lansing because I was only one of two people in line, and the TSA must have been bored. That does not mean you can violate my privacy and treat me like a criminal.
This has gone too far. Everything.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, just as there is an intelligent and also a less than intelligent way of doing just about everything

I don't have all the answers to everything, I would just rather not read about kids getting senselessly murdered at school

Fair enough?

I am soooo glad that I graduated pre-Columbine.

This was something new they just put up this year. I'm so glad I graduated before they changed everything. I have to feel for my sister now, though.

I had a pocket knife in school every single day.

I find it ironic that they attempt to teach tolerance and have these all these zero tolerance policies that suspend kids for miniature guns, play guns made in school, and small food knives. Accidentally bringing these things to school should be tolerated.

And if they find these things during scanning... is the kid suspended? It didn't make it in. If they find something like this before I get on a plane it goes in the trash (we're not talking real weapons here). A kid could do more damage with a baseball bat or other things you might already find in the school.

I totally agree with that. It is the method of prevention I question. No one should have to feel violated or afraid to go to school due to security measures anymore than fear of violence.

Not being myself.  I feel like it's killing me inside.  I don't want to go on anymore like this.  But, why is it so hard to be myself.  Why would I rather die than take a chance?

Fear?

And this is why I buy in bulk and have them all over the house and in my purse.  I have a special jar for the special picks that are not to be handled. OK, I admit to using Yngwie Malmsteen's, but it somehow did not increase my picking speed one bit.

Use a coin like Brian May?

I'll have to say that reading some peoples' posts here made me most unhappy today.   Some heartbreaking, some hurtful- perhaps intentionally.
that's my last resort but it'll do for some jamming, but i'm better with a pick. i should carry some in my wallet and put a few ones in my cd cases.

I want to just come out to the world, all at once.  But I'm afraid of how it will affect me if the result is not so good.

The result is generally better than expected, and being yourself is the important thing to enable us to accept.

I've known of some people who have made picks out of cutting up a plastic bottle in times of desperation  8)

Any thin plastic works well. It's cheap and easy.

I wasn't going to post this but I need as much positive energy as I can get.

The hydraulic lifter I use to transfer my wife from her wheel chair has failed. I think the battery or the controller mechanism has failed. Both are (of course >:() unique to this lifter a Sunlift 150E, I've searched the internet in Adelaide there is one possibility but they seem to have closed for the holiday break.

Any ideas and good thoughts, any anythings, I could use at this time, please!
