Dear Friends,

Please join me today in celebrating the Solstice, the shortest day of sunshine in the northern hemisphere and a wonderfully ancient and universal holiday.  I am preparing for the naked yule log jumping event and other festivities.  Seriously though, I wish you the warmest of good days and a bright New Year.  I will also be celebrating my legal name change to Tessa James as of January 1st 2014.

Love and Hugs,

Tessa

Nice time for a new name with the new year.

Happy solstice to you too. It will be good to have days getting longer, just wish it happened quicker.

It does not take courage or bravery to change your gender.  It takes fear of living one more day in the wrong one.~me

Yes. We celebrate the solstice by eating red adzuki bean porridge. My wife will make it for my kids and me today afternoon. The red color of the porridge symbolizes repulsing demons in the first day of the new year.

I heard that Christmas day was actually originated from the Solstice during the ancient Roman period.

Happy Solstice! An especially happy solstice to those living above the arctic circle. :)

And happy Summer Solstice to all us antipodeans (and all others south of the equator)! Just passed our longest day and summer's really starting to heat up now!

Barbie, the Jesus birth sequence is ancient, dates much farther back than Rome and, like other similar myths, is "purely astrological". ( see youtu.be/oZgT1SRcrKE starting @ 6minutes about "Sirius & "The Three Kings" )

"The Sun died on the (Southern) Cross, was dead for three days, only to be resurrected again"

But this rebirth was not actually celebrated until the Spring Equinox, or Easter ( when length of daylight actually overpowers darkness )

The Great Egyptian Year = 25, 765 ( or 2,150 years = zodiac 'age' )  "The Pyramid Code - The Empowered Human Part 4" and "Part 5" explains 'matriarchy', 'sacred feminine & masculine'' and this cycle concept more @ youtu.be/YV711O8ltLc. It's all about 'balance' and we are currently at the very bottom of the 'dark age' cycle where WOMEN are supposed to rule THROUGH men, NOT OVER THEM and, in Bible references, hinges on the word 'submit' which has been misinterpreted by feminism as 'slavery' as opposed to the 'putting forth of ideas'.  :police:

Kiera,

Yes. It is interesting that astrological symbolism has been the same between the West and the East. The number 12 and the same calendars.

Here, December 25 is a kind of national 1-day holiday, named like "the birthday of Jesus", but I heard that Jesus was actually born in spring. I do not celebrate Christmas day, but some Judo-Christians here do.

Yes. Today evening, I ate two bowls of bean porridge my wife served. It looks like:

I look at the Solstice as an opportunity to move upward.  Just as the days now grow longer, I hope that my personal journey adds a bit of light to a point where I hope that next June 21st fits my goal of a positive outlook.

Happy Solstice,

Kara

. . . "antidopeans" and some fresh perspectives on myth and astrology.

lol from urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=antidopeans:

antidopeans isn't defined.
Can you define it?
" As Client X outlined his reasons for moving on, visions of an antidopean Santa's workshop quietly fled, replaced by a scenario straight from the ACTU's 'Fabulous Book of Employment Horror Stories' "

Anti po-ligiously correct?

I found a reference to the Aussies and New Zealanders down under but lets ask for Grace to elaborate please.

I have a very nice Australian Shepard (an Aussie doggy) and hope that buys me some points  ;D

Antipodean...

  • diametrically opposed
  • relating to the antipodes, or situated at opposite sides of the Earth
  • (informal) of, or pertaining to, Australia or New Zealand
I was thinking specifically of meaning #3... :)
