Awesomes!

Glad to hear the same reactions from you all, ladies!
I wanted to wear female-cut clothes throughout much of my teenage years and twenties, but didn't dare, so I tried wearing male clothes that weren't as severe as usual men's fashions, but it was a very secretive affair. Now though, its as if I WANT people to see that my clothes are meant for females, even though their bafflement sometimes creates a tense atmosphere for a bit. Same with my coats, they have nipped in waists and flared skirts, and despite the curious looks I receive, I still feel the need to present this to people. A sense of validation perhaps?
When I was very repressed and trying to conform, I used to wonder why women complained that if they were wearing something pretty, men would look at them and potentially make advances regardless of whether there was invitation or not. I assumed at the time that women just wanted the attention secretly. Now, however, after wearing pretty things myself or even simply wearing something feminine, I've realised that alot of the time, the enjoyment most of the time can be in simply looking attractive for personal validation and the aesthetic value, with any potential attraction from wannabe suitors being a welcome (or unwelcome) bi-product.
Its taken quite a while to override the social programming, so glad I did! Now I can wear stylish and elegant feminine things without feeling shame, as I am not programmed to assume that I am wearing them to attract men. I no longer have the self-hate and confusion that went with that. Plus, now I'm OK with wearing feminine clothes, I don't even need to buy overtly feminine things. A simple women's jumper feels good, even though it may not exactly be something super-cute. Hooray for this!
Kaitlin4475 - I didn't think EDM was that open-minded, especially how many clubs I've been too that frown at anything other than manly guys and girly girls. Do you listen to EDM as well? I've heard such gigs and clubs tend to be more progressive, though I haven't been to any that play EDM yet.
