When did you first notice real tenting and tenderness?  What about darkening areolas and always hard and erect?

It gets really painful about three months on.  Mine still feel achy sometimes after 15 months on HRT.  Its ok - means they aren't finished yet.

Breast buds, visible rounding, and tenderness was day 5 of HRT. I think the nipple thing set in by around 2 weeks, but I didn't realize it was going to be a long-term symptom so I didn't notice exactly when it began. :) Nipple/areolae changing color was veeerrry gradual over the course of the first year or so, and it wasn't actually darkening; went from light brown to light pink. Areolae and nipples increasing in size is still happening.

I never had severe pain, though. Occasional mild aching, an few hours of serious tenderness now and again that passed quickly, and my God the ITCHING drove me nuts. But nothing like the pain other women have described.

I'm actually kind of hoping they're done soon (almost 4 years HRT) - a 40C cup in 4 months was cool, but 42DDD is beginning to be too big to easily buy in stores, and even my expensive bras are getting tight. Argh!

Hi ... Just for the record, I went through this 28 years ago.  Yes, it finally stopped ... My areolas went from brown to pink, and larger in diameter as my D-Sized breasts grew and stretched.  Now, 28 years later, they've sagged a bit, and they're even lighter pink now than they were then ... And still a bit tender right on the nipple.  I guess I always expected that, as a woman's breast is always more sensitive and tender than a guy's nipple ... There are hundreds of posts out there confirming that.  Roberto.
It took a lot of doing, but I take a lot of pride in what I am.

Thanks for your long term perspective.  This confirms for me that I have always had female breasts--they have always been sensitive to erotic stimulation ;)

Stephanie : Given your initial response to HRT, D cup seems more than likely. In fact, you may want to watch out for ending up bigger than you thought possible. ;)

(I still remember trying on a 38C bra and thinking it was HUGE, and hoping I never got that large. Oops.)

Again ... For what it's worth.  My breasts were a full C-Size back in 1986 (right after SRS and BA) ... Now, almost 30 years later they have sagged and stretched a bit.  You need to plan on that.  Now I can fill a D-Cup bra in most brands, so if you don't want to be too big later in life, don't get too big when you are younger.  Sagging breasts can hurt without proper support ... Roberto : Um, I don't really have any control over how big I get, younger or older. :) Aside from reduction, and I don't want anyone messing with my breasts!!
  •

Roberta W

Understood.  No offense ... You are right.  That's really not something you can control unless you stop the rest of the process, which we do NOT want to do!

Roberto : Oh, definitely not! I'll deal with what comes. (I also missed that you had BA, and this *is* great advice for someone who's able to choose their breast size.) It's also a good point that a supportive bra is a must. :)

The booby fairy isn't equal about doling out sizes and shapes. I am at a 38A after 18 months, still growing, someday might be a real B. I know other women that have been post op as long as a decade in the same size range. Some TS that have seen me have boob envy of me, but really it's not a B yet. As stated in other posts I'm on a robust HT regimen.

hopefully it  will slow down. My sister was quite large but my other sister wasn't

At two weeks there was nipple tenderness. I am two months in  the girls are tender just below the nipple (described as a bruise feeling) and I can feel buds. They let me know they are there when I roll over sleeping. I can also tell there is growth because have been wearing a bra most of the time and it is getting a tad tighter.  :D

Mine only hurt a little for about 5 weeks from the end of July to early September in 2012.  They are still growing (or changing shape) and ache every now and then after a good night of sleep, but they don't hurt.

Since some of you talked size - Currently measure 40/45, but on my torso it doesn't translate to 40DD.  I wear a 42D underwire soft cup and it's very comfortable, while a 40D is too binding, and a 40DD is too big.   ???

He Joules ... What brand of bra is that that gives you the good definition?  I'm still searching for something that doesn't squish like every sports bra ... Thanks.  Typical that a C size fits OK, and a DD size also fits with the band size too small!  Roberto.

Thanks.  All of the 46C sports bras that I have fit OK in the cup, but those tend to destroy shape.  But I have 46 C and 46D sizes that are not sports bras, they shape OK but the D cup is smaller than the C cup (2 different brands.)  It seems to be hit-and-miss, and now I have 28 years of experience noting that sizes vary all over the place.  Still looking for the magic formula:  Shapes and fits simultaneously. I'll keep looking.  Glad to see that I'm not alone in this quest ...
