So while perusing the Transgender Michigan website for laser providers in the Lansing area, I came across the U of M health system's Gender Services Program, and took a look. Turns out, they have a Doctor William Kuzon, who does FFS and SRS, on staff there. Anyone ever heard of him, or ever had anything done by him?
Due to the extreme convenience (only an hour's drive from where I live) I'm going to see if I can't go for a consult to see about the costs sand to learn more about his work.
Hey, you've reached Lauren's signature! If you have any questions, want to talk, or just need a shoulder to cry on, leave me a message, and I'll get back to you.

Full time: 12/12/13
Started hormones: 26/3/14
FFS: No clue, winter/spring 2014/15 maybe?
SRS: winter/spring 2014/15?

There is very little information publicly available about dr kuzon. I am enrolled in the um program and they have provided referrals for various services. They are slow to respond though. I am waiting on information about a few things including dr kuzon.

I've been thinking of enrolling in the program as well (I'm at MSU) but there's not much info on results, so I'm a bit concerned.
Yeah, the hormonal and counselling process at Olin at MSU is really slow too, and there's a lot of gatekeepers.

I use U of M for my counseling support and have been going there for 8 months. I also go there for endocrinology and they have an OB/GYN trained in MtF issues. Overall, they have been really decent to me. No complaints. I actually got a hormone referral after my third visit. They are also one of only a couple of places in Michigan that have counselor moderated support groups for spouses of people transitioning.  Their intake is definitely slow as I think they only have one or two part time employees working there, and I think one is maybe a master's student.

Good program overall, in my opinion, but I can't speak to Dr. Kuzon...which was the point of the thread...so sorry for going on a tangent :)  I will add that for any surgery volume and experience is important, and I have not seen on other threads his named referenced too often, as I looked into it as well. He is not on my short list.

PM me if you want any info on my personal experience.

Thanks Toni.
Overall my questions were on the UMHS GCS program, but specifically on Dr. Kuzon himself. If I can call and get admitted to the program, I'll see if I can't go in and see him myself, along with maybe some results as well.
It's just overly convenient, as I'm only in Lansing; I can take the bus over to Ann Arbor for a decent rate, much cheaper than Chicago, as was first planned.
I'm surprised at the quickness of getting hormones; three months at Olin and I got nowhere, and chose to go off campus instead. Hopefully that goes better

Just wondering, what method(s) do the endo(s) there use? At Olin, only the pills are prescribed. I've been advised against doing so. Do they also prescribe patches, or pellets? Injections are an absolute no for me. I'm only getting stuck with a needle when it's absolutely necessary.

The endo I use through U of M discussed patches, injectables, and pills with me. We considered E and t-blockers, and decided a slightly different route for medication for me than the E and spiro that is most common. Not going into details here, as I want to abide by forum rules, but the form I take is pills for the E. I think they would consider alternatives if you felt adamantly about it, but for me after a lengthy consultation my route felt right for me. I doubled my E dose after two months and blood work, and will go up again at the end of January.
