Hi all, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself ...

My name is Kay and I live in the UK, I am 42 years old, I came out to my wife last year and we are still together ... just   :'(.

In the beginning she was supportive, however as time went on things got harder and harder until she could stand my dressing no longer. I made a pact with her that as long as we were together I wouldn't dress without her permission. Because of that I haven't dressed since about July/August time. I do still identify as being transgender, I have been referred to the Charing Cross GIC (only recently sent back the forms stating that A) yes I consent to my details being used on their computer systems and B) I am not a time waster and will actually turn up for appointments if they are offered).

As for physical appearance, just short of 6 feet tall and could do with losing some weight.

Pet (current) hates with my situation:
Shaving rash
Location of testicles (i.e. they are still attached)
Not being able to grow my hair out
Excess body hair (i.e. I still have all of it ... see shaving rash above)
Breast envy ...

Apart from that, its all good.

Hi Kay and welcoem to our family here at Susan's!  :)

I'm really pleased to hear that you're still with your wife, and that you've made some compromises, but technically she's gonna hold you back from being your true self. If you do get some appointments with the GIC, I would encourage you to take her to some just so that she gets a better idea of what you're going through.

I'm sorry to hear that you get a rash after shaving. It could be an alergic reaction to something that you're using on your skin. I'd suggest trying a different format for shaving. So does your wife have a problem with letting you grow your hair out? Ask her if there's a certian length that she'll tolerate.

Welcome to Susan's, Kay. I echo some of Gina's comments. Only you can live your life; no one else can.

A big warm welcome to the family! Have you let your wife read the "Significant Others" section yet or is it too soon? She could learn a lot about our special needs there. I look forward to getting to know you better in the future. I hope you find the information you need to be successful and happy.  :)
