Advice on Purses/Wallets?

So I have a bit of money for Christmas (not a huge amount but enough to accessorize a little) and I was wondering if anyone could help me a little with something I've been trying to figure out.

I need a purse/wallet combo that won't stand out immensely as being un-feminine, like the cheap imitation leather all-bro billfold I carry currently.

The problem is, I have concerns with carrying my money, keys, and phone in an external bag that isn't securely on my back. To me, a shoulder bag just raises red flags of vulnerability and it is not the best way to carry things of value.

Are there any good alternatives, like a pocket wallet that wouldn't immediately be read as "male" as soon as I take it out? When I've been presenting androgynous, that always seems to be the one thing I hate doing is reaching into my wallet but I much prefer the security of keeping my money close to my body.

Any thoughts for alternatives to leaving my money where everyone can grab it that wouldn't look out of place on a girl who's just trying to blend in?

one of nicest things about being out and proud is owning pretty bags so although I do know that should it get snatched I would be in deep crap I do always carry a bag, usually a shoulder bag in nice leather but for trips to posher places I have a classy bag to carry on my arm...if finances allowed I'd have more bags.

I've always carried lots of things... .lots and lots of things.

Before I came out I'd have a jacket with 13 pockets (special order lol) and a book bag with me to carry everything.
I'd probably end up with a messenger bag... like what that one girl had in "The Breakfast Club" (love that movie).

I still want to keep a wallet though I don't know how that'll work, I'm finding a lot of what I wear doesn't have pockets.. I just want want my stuff stolen.

You could get a little clutch. Feminine pretty much ends at carrying things in your pocket lol. Can't really think of anything else :o

If you are worried about the bag being too girly there's always like a backpack or a messenger bag.. if you want it more attached to you, you could get a crossbody too.

Here most women's formal dresses do not have pockets, and I have to carry a handbag everyday.

a friend of mine used to have a really cute backpack made by dooney & bourke.  there are definitely options out there that are feminine without losing the ability to secure it to your body.

Have you considered a small cross body purse or bag? They wear like a messenger bag securely across your chest and are pretty difficult to snatch if safety is a concern. Check out timbuk2 bags;they come in many different sizes.

The way I do it is that I walk into a store, see the bag I want, and know that is the one for me. I don't follow fashion trends, I just get what is right for me.

I don't carry very much so I use a wristlet. It's the best.
