For those of you who are post op, do you have external scarring related to GRS?  If so does it get better with time or go away completely?  What are the scars like?  Do some surgeons leave less scarring than others.  I was just wondering what your experiences were, thanks..

I have one scar about 1/4" wide and 3" long down the middle of each of my outer labia, and that's all I can see; there was some scarring at the very base of the vagina that faded away completely. The labial scarring is invisible with hair, and has faded to very pale pink after more than a year. I do think in a few years it'll be more or less gone too, but who knows yet. I did also have some internal scarring which is equally slowly disappearing.

(I went to Brassard.)

I have scars on my labia majora and at the vaginal opening that are lightened up a lot but I can still spot them pretty good (vaginal opening is ok though all in all). I have some internal (labia) scar tissue that is annoying but nothing big whoop. More visible are the 3 "button" scars for the pubic drain and pull-up stitches (kept vagina in place during initial recovery or something like that). Hair does an ok job at hiding most of it although I like to keep it trim and neat.

Can scars be improved via Scar Revision, anyone?  Also, what can affect scars?  I think weight can as extra weight causes extra wound tension and this can cause scars.   Also, I know smoking can worsen scars.  Anyone?
