That was surprisingly dysphoria-inducing

There's a guy I've known for his entire life who is only a few months younger than me. As we were growing up it was always a competition between us of who was taller and inevitably I stopped growing and he continued.

Well I haven't seen him in a while but he came over for New Years and he's now almost 6 foot and has got facial hair coming in. Wasn't expecting how dysphoria that would be for me.

I definitely know what you mean. Today, I went to one of the huge social events on my island. I saw so many guys I knew that went to high school with me. When I was a senior they were freshmen. Now a year later, all of them have deep voices and are like 6 feet tall and have facial hair. Then I look into a mirror and I feel like I am stuck in a pre-pubescent boy's body. I have no real Adam's apple and peach fuzz. It's definitely crazy how the wrong puberty can change a life.

This so much ^

For me personally, it can feel dehumanizing to see younger guys having the blessing to go through the puberty that I wanted.  I can only imagine how I will feel when the young boys in my family reaches that phase.

I know the feeling, man.

ah i know it sucks. my brother who's only 13 is growing up and i go through what you said every moment i spend at home. when we were younger my 5yr advance let me be taller and stronger than him, but i stopped growing long ago and he passed me in height in a matter of months. his shoe size is larger than mine as well. and it sucks when he's stronger than me. worst of all his voice is cracking and deepening and i think i might die of jealousy and dysphoria if i don't move out before he's fully grown, but that is not so possible either.

Dysphoria can bring up some insane envy. I went to the beach in Maryland for my honeymoon this year. All I wanted to do was be able to take my shirt off and be comfortable...but no, I was wearing a binder with a undershirt over it and then a polo on top of that. Seeing countless cis guys walking on the sand, at the pool, or boardwalk shirtless and comfortable was hell on me that week. It doesn't have to be someone I have known forever for dysphoria to start pestering me.

I had a guy in school who sometimes was my fake bf. He looked 25 when he was 17. -_- It always made me feel so weird. He had so many features I wanted. Not just physically, but he had a very nice demeanor as well.

I'm lucky I guess to have never really been exposed to age-peers much (moved around a lot, hung out with older boys, skipped high school), but the current fad of handlebar mustaches and mutton chops among men in their twenties and thirties is dysphoria-inducing for me. And not shaving for hockey and other sports stuff. I see kids a decade younger walking around with more hair than I think I'll ever get. Gah. Sometimes things can kinda blindside you with reminders about your body.
