Since I'm turning into an adult after this year (february) can I get a haircut without my moms permission, I'm tired of getting it braided every four weeks, I just want it gone but my mom wants it to grow but its not growing anyway, She says I wouldn't look right either but I think she's just saying that to make me not get it cut.....

They don't ask your age in salons/barbershops so you can go in without your parents and get a haircut.

When I was a teen, my mom didn't want me to cut my hair either, so one day I just went into the bathroom and shaved it all off down to skin!  I was so scared to see them afterward, and my parents were quite shocked. My dad didn't like it but later on my mom said that she actually did like it.  Your mom might be mad at first, but it's just hair. There's worse things to do.

There's no age restriction on getting a haircut.  Just get it cut and if they ask say you wanted it cut because it'll be cheaper/easier to manage than getting it braided every month.

Well my dad said he'd let me get it cut, but I live with my mom thats the thing

That's true, Thats what I was tryng to explain to my dad

It's your hair.  I dyed mine black once, they weren't happy and it didn't suit me at all, but the world didn't end.  You're almost an adult, they've got to get used to the fact that you're growing up and you can't do everything the way they they want you to all the time like you did as a kid.  You've got to have your own identity and life too.  If you have pocket money or a job say you want to start paying for them yourself and don't think it's practical to have it braided all the time, spin it like it's money management and being responsible, parents like stuff like that.

Your right only thing is that I can't cut it until I get a line up or elses it won't look right, Especially being black, Because white guys are natural they don't need line ups

May I ask what a line-up is? Is that when they even out the hairline?

It's most common in African American community with fades, Like a temple fade, Hightop fade or medium low fade, If you look at black guys, It's basically shaping your hairline with a razor, They also get the side burns and the back, It gives it a sharper, More fresher look, After a month or two you have to get another one because it will get messed up. That's why I can't cut my own hair

If you want a haircut and your dad is on board to pay for it then go get one. Mama might get mad but she'll get over it. Not like she can glue it back on your head, lol.

Are you trying to get across that if you get it cut, you will have to figure out a way to get money to get it cut every month?  Are you wondering if your mom will still give you the cash since it isn't the cut she wants you to have?

My dad only pays 12 dollars to get his cut, I also have a friend who does lineups and hair cuts, Theirs really no way to get across that anyways besides I want a lineup, My friends have been telling me I should

This is just my being impulsive but I say just dive in and go for it. It's hair, it will grow back. This will not injure you in any way. I'm personally kind of confused by people having a fit about hair, more so women being completely attached to it. I shaved my head before coming out with barely any more consideration than, "Huh, I wonder how I'd look bald?". My mother's reaction to it was less calm, I'll say.

Just get it cut. If your mother freaks out worse that happens you move in with your dad and he will let you do everything she won't. Win win.

Well woman who come from christian families, Are taught to not cut their hair because in the bible it says a womans hair is her glory, That's one reason why, But my mom doesn't want me looking like a boy I guess, But I'm becoming an adult and I really am a guy she just doesn't know it. But as I already stated I can't just dive in and do it my self

I'd just like to point out that usually if someone has contact with both parents but lives with one of them all of the time, it's a custody thing. It's not always as simple as moving in with the other parent.

That's a huge generalization Brandon. There are many Christian families who do NOT teach that as well, so please do not use your family to generalize the entire religion.

That's a huge generalization Brandon. There are many Christian families who do NOT teach that as well, so please do not use your family to generalize the entire religion.

Do you have 12 dollars of your own? If you do walk or take public transportation to the place. Generally students receive free fare if they present passes/school ID. You mentioned asking your father to take you, which is a good option too. I assume your parents aren't living together and your not 18 yet. I'm unsure of child custody laws, but there might be a way to choose to not stay with your mom. In any case your close to 18, which at that point you can ask your father if you want to move in.

Also be aware of your head shape because some close to the head hair cuts will make you look more feminine.

Yes I have twelve dollars of my own, And at 16 in the u.s you can choose what parent you want to live with, And I already know what I'm gonna get, Its gonna make me look more masculine
