Theres a lot of ppl who don't like spiegels work or don't find him aggressive enough, but I'm not one of them :) I think he has a beautiful technique and though it isn't right for everyone it is masterful. You're in good hands.

I would suggest being very clear what you want w him tho - if you want him to be more aggressive say that

during our consultation we had a very good conversation about my expected out comes and what he thought he could do, after all i am a bit older and have plenty of room for improvements. we put a very aggressive plan together and have been able to secure financial support through my insurance so should be in for some serious changes. I will keep that in mind as we set down and do our pre op meetings though not likely to get a second chance for a while so have to make the best of it

Wow how'd you get insurance to contribute?
  •

Jerri

i had to petition to the corp level hr manager, and she went to the insurance company and told them to cover all my medical procedures and hrt at in network rates (80%). so far they are covering everything but electrolysis. it took about 8 months to get everything lined up but is starting to come together now.

That's really cool that you're getting FFS covered as well. Wish that was the norm for every insurance provider.

maybe with time we will get them on board and they will realize the advantage of proper treatment. we are pioneering alot of things for those who come behind us, i think the outcome and how we prove ourselves out will help to change peoples awareness about us.

i have made some major changes in the contribution at work over last year since i started being open about who i am. by having those results and being a long term employee the leadership was willing to step up for me. so my point is trying to get past the dysphoria and doing the hard things seems to help, it changes peoples perspective not just of us but about who we are. those baby steps help to make it a little better for the next person that comes forward

At least most (not mine, stupid military) cover SRS and HRT. That's a big chunk of the transition budget right there. Electrolysis and a new wardrobe are inexpensive in comparision, leaving only FFS as the last big cost. The unfortunate part there is it varies so much in costs between doctors, and as well as between number of procedures needed.
