Yeah, it just hit me so hard when I saw that. I wonder if many people understand that her reaction really tells it all, in terms of how it is for us.

Makes you wonder....maybe there are a few sensitive cis types that get it I dunno!

Well poor Barbara Walters didn't see it coming! Lol. She reached out and gave her a hug, and the narrative over top said something like "when she dissolved into tears I found myself no longer being a reporter, but her comforter." It made me think throughout the day today. I think about how hard it is for that little girl, and how hard it is for me - like dealing with my chest all day today, trying to keep it hidden under a hoodie and worrying about surgery. I think if I was approaching puberty again, even if I was promised T and whatnot, I'd still be terrified that it wouldn't work and I might still grow into a female adult.

But knowing that, maybe, in the future, less people will have to go through that sort of pain that comes with transitioning as an adult...it helps me. Knowing that in the future less little FTM boys will have to grow boobs and less MTF girls will have to develop T-related changes, it helps.

I should have become a mercenary or something equally lucrative. Then I'd have all the money I need! Instead I chose to go to school. lol

Stupid whiny housewife rant here:

Today I tossed out all the expired foods in my fridge and pantry.  Wow... I mean I probably just tossed fifty bucks out the window.  I need to be way more careful about buying things I'd "probably want to eat someday soon" and unhealthy stuff in general. There were boxes that were 3 years old, cans that expired two years ago and jars of "what was I even thinking that day?"

Never again will I succumb to that "grocery store impulse buy" urge.  If it's not on the list, it's not going in the cart.  I will make a habit of shopping just after I ate something, as I think blood sugar levels affect this.

One of the reasons I spent all that time, effort and money remodeling my kitchen is so I could learn to be a better cook.  I want to buy raw ingredients now and just roll my own.  A lot of those prefabricated sauces, soups and rubs are completely unnecessary to me anyway.  I can probably make ones that are not only better, but far better for you.

I feel better now for venting that.

I guess that's why I go to do shopping once per week with a list of things I need and a specific budget in cash. I'd be in a big hurry if there was a snowstorm on a saturday, but... The only pre-cookeds I have are fabada, fabada, and more fabada asturiana.

OK, you got $8000?

Actually, I might just do that one for free.

My family is absolutely horrible for that same thing. Like my grandpa, he only wants to eat fresh homecooked meals for every meal, and refuses to eat anything out of a can. But if the cans are on sale he just "has" to take advantage of it, only to never eat it and have stuff in the cans go bad after many years. I made myself a promise that when I am on my own, I'd only  "stock up" on a sale item if it was something I actually eat on a daily basis (like ketchup, frozen bread, etc). Other than that I'd only buy what I wanted to cook with that day (since I am single one cooked meal can last like 3 or 4 days).
