My post count keeps going down, and I don't know why    It's only going down by about 5-10 every time but it's confusing me

Casey's been deleting all their posts. When they delete topics, everyone who replied sees their post count go down. Not the nicest thing to do and puts holes in the forum. I can understand deleting personal information that may cause a problem for you. I can't understand deleting all your posts and the topics you started. Kinda selfish if you ask me, considering others posted in those topics. Why contribute just to remove everything?
Why even participate if you're just going to deposit a 1000 posts and flush them away? This site is not a toilet.

Casey is removing hundreds of posts hence if they have a link to yours they are removed as well

Ah I see. Thanks for clearing that up. My 'This is my 1000th post' in the 'What are you thinking?' thread looks a bit stupid now haha.

Probably. But yeah, one of my mods just had to restore topics in the fun and games forum because you happened to be the first poster after the threads were split to make new ones. I've never been a fan of deleting all one's posts when they leave. Like I said, this site is not a toilet.

I asked you if there was something specific you needed removed. I don't have a problem with that. But yeah, it is kind of selfish to delete the topics you started with no regard for a mass effect on people's post counts who participated in those threads with you.

Out of curiosity, is there a way to delete the posts without deleting the replies?

Can we please not argue everyone? I don't want anybody to leave. I don't know what has happened. I don't mind that some of my posts got deleted, I was just curious as to where they went. I don't want to start an argument, I was just wondering.

If you delete a topic you started, you delete all of the replies with it.  I suggest modifying your first post instead, to remove any of the information you no longer wish to share.

When you delete a post that has been quoted by another member in a reply, the text of the reply is unaffected.

Long story short.  Think about what you are posting before you hit the "post" button.

Unfortunately, no. If someone has something they really need removed, even a thread with people's replies in it, that's one thing. I understand that sometimes people post things that later can be problematic. But having thousands of posts and just removing them wholesale is disruptive and goes against the spirit of the site.

Newbies and guests go through old posts all the time. Your posts and personal experiences contribute to the value of the site. To come here, dump all your ->-bleeped-<- and try to flush it all when you're done is selfish and a show of disrespect and disregard to the site and all you got out of it - not to mention all the members who helped you, gave you advice, or just participated in a fun and games thread with you.

Nobody wants you to leave. I simply disagree with the practice of trashing all one's posts. And I think that if you made the time to make all these posts, you can make the time to sort through them and remove problematic information. The way it looks, I'm kind of doubting there is any problematic information. It looks like you just want to delete every trace of your presence from the site. If you feel that way, why did you even sign up?

I can think of situations that would warrant deleting all posts. An enemy discovering your account springs to mind.

Not making assumptions. But if there are extenuating circumstances, you haven't shared them with me. I guess it may seem like I'm singling Casey out. And I guess I am using them as an example. It's bothersome when people delete all their posts when they leave. Your posts, your words, your struggle, your story - help others long after you leave here. I remember when I first found this website and was so touched by trans women's posts (there were like 2 ftm members here at the time) who had long since left. Their stories helped me. Even stuff so seemingly insignificant as how they picked their names! These women were long gone, but their words helped me so much. They will probably never know much they helped me.

And you will probably never know how much you helped countless others with your posts, your story, your spirit. Right now, there is someone out there who felt alone until they read your posts. They may not even be your gender. Maybe they are mtf or ftm. Maybe they are neither. But they related to YOUR story. Your story, your life spoke to them and gave them the courage to sign up or maybe they didn't sign up but just felt a little less alone. When you leave here and remove all your posts, you are preventing this from happening.

Do you really want to do that? If you got something from Susan's, then leave something behind - your story, your struggle, your pain, your joy. I can guarantee there is someone out there who needs to hear YOUR story. And your story may just save a life. Don't prevent that from happening out of fear or anger. If you're done with the site, that's fine. Don't remove your contributions here. Someone somewhere is thanking you for them.
