its hard to find reputable hormone therapists but all my research indicates there are none who work with transexuals within 200 miles of me. anyone know of any in indiana. preferably near south bend

On Monday, call your local LGBT centers and tell them what you are looking for. They will likely offer some names or at the very least suggest who you can contact to get more info.

We have several Indianans who are members.  Let me see who/what I can find.

there dont really seem to be any lgbt centers around here. some supprt groups for youth but i definitely dont need that, bein 24 and not in need of such things anyway

and yeah i mean hormone doctors not therapists.

preferrably informed consent. im worried i wont have time if i dont do it soon. i need as much feminization as i can get from them.

Do you have a vehicle? You may have to make the 200 mile drive. Also, the LGBT center you call does not have to be extremely close. Contact one at the nearest large town. Then, contact another. Then another. Somebody will know more about this than you do.

Also therapists who deal with trans patients. Even if you do not need therapy it may be worth contacting a handful of them. They tend to learn from their patients which doctors they go to... etc.

Is there a trans support group anywhere? You may have to drive.

Trans folk do not tend to keep their IC doctors a secret from people who want to begin transition. In fact, doctors who practice IC tend to do so because they have quite a bit of experience working with trans patients.

You're closer to HRT than I am. South Bend is what, 90 minutes from Chicago? Look into Howard Brown Health Center there. Informed consent sliding scale HRT. It's where I'm going, and it's 2 1/2 hours away from me.

Though, I lucked out on the LGBT center. The ONLY one in Indiana is where I live in Lafayette. So, you'll have to venture to chicago too for that I recon.

Since you're right across the river from me, if schedules worked out I'd be willing to carpool to Howard Brown. I wouldn't mind some company on that drive. I've driven across the country several times, and yet, somehow, driving from here to Chicago is the most boring ass drive I've ever done. I still have to figure out my work schedule, and then figure out when it works for Howard Brown, but, I need to go back for bloodwork sometime in late Feb. I've actually been wanting to go to a meeting there for a month now because I don't have any real life connections in the trans community and having them would be ungodly helpful to me. In fact, I had never met another transwoman ever until about two weeks ago - I was donating blood plasma in West Lafayette and the girl in line behind me was trans. Yeah. My first trip to Howard Brown was also not only my first trip to Chicago, it was also the first trip I had ever really gone someplace besides a friends house "en femme". And, it was the day after the polar vortex nonsense and the roads were all icy, and I was totally paranoid that I'd end up going off the road, and some kind midwesterner would stop to lend assistance and discover I was essentially a guy in drag and then promptly beat me to death. I now have a three foot long steel crowbar sitting in my passenger seat. It makes me feel slightly better

I've never actually been on campus. Well, no, I took my dog to the vet hospital once, but other than that, I've never been on campus. Just moved to the area in September, and I'm not a student, and all of my friends have already graduated, so I haven't had much reason to go there. I do work in West Lafayette though, at a big big store on Northwestern which shall remain nameless because it's pure evil. But, I am not opposed to exploring on campus, so lunch sometime would be fun!

In any case this week is actually kinda bad for lunch...  the past couple of weeks have been rough.  Maybe I will see you at Pride this Sunday though, if you plan on attending Trans*Lafayette's meeting at 4:30.  Will be in touch sometime though either way!

I'd LOVE to attend. But, sadly I have to work 1130 to 730... I hope I'll be off on the 16th at least, but I haven't gotten my schedule for that week yet. I know I'm scheduled on the 14th, which pisses me off because I actually requested it off. Nothing says "A fun way to celebrate my 33rd birthday" like spending the day at a job I hate and then going home to a dinner for one while all the couples I know do something romantic... So the least my boss could do is give me the 16th off....
