I feel silly asking this question, and I didn't know exactly where to put this topic, but how should I take care of my hair and scalp? The other day, my boss and I were talking a bit because we were super slow at work (stupid freezing cold weather...), and thus bored, and she said, "Wow your scalp looks dry." I was like wtf, I wasn't standing really close to her, a few feet prolly, and she noticed that, so it must be pretty bad. I have always had a dry scalp and have had dandruff as a result. I have tried head and shoulders before and I didn't notice an improvement, and I think Selsun Blue as well a long time ago. So, does anyone have any suggestions to help me out with my dry scalp problem?

Thanks,
-Kelly

I know mad Dad had it really bad as well. His whole shirt would be covered in flakes. He was like in his 60's-70's though and didn't shower as much as we do now.

I know mine started in grade school around 4th or5th grade because I use to rub my scalp in class and it would fall all over the place

I had it bad for 6 months last year then I bought this stuff. I am also getting really nice strong hair too. I use it 3 times a week now, and coconut shampoo the other days. However when I started I used it every day for a week. You leave it in your hair for three mins then rinse.

"Alpecin Double Effect Shampoo" costs me $11aus

A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting

Don't wash it everyday. Frequent washing will cause your scalp to dry. Try mixing in brown sugar with your shampoo and scrubbing your scalp. It works as a great exfoliant. You can also mix brown sugar with certain oils to help moisturize. Just google recipes and you should find lots of results.

Sadly I must wash it everyday as I live in a very dusty town and it gets in everything. Using that coffee shampoo has done wonders as I do not get dandruff at all now. I will check out the other idea too. I have never heard of it!

I had dandruff bad when my ages was single digits. It went away when puberty started, and stayed gone until I started HRT... Though, I'm hoping it's because my scalp isn't used to single digit temps and not because the hormones... I'll find out in spring I guess.

A friend of mine suggested shampoo meant for show horses. I dunno. I might actually give it a try...

Well I did hear that washing it everyday could dry it out, so I don't do that, I do it about every 2-3 days, or else it starts to get itchy and nasty feeling.

My hair is almost shoulder length and I find that Moroccan Oil is the best. Wash every four days and use Moroccan Oil conditioner, followed by an application of a small amount of Aegean Oil to your hair gives it great body and shine.

Argan oil is good..

But I'll add another! Coconut oil.. I have heard that it naturally helps with dandruff, although it has been awhile since I have had that. I did have issues with it early early last year.. I wash it.. about every three days unless there feels a need to do it more often..

+1 for coconut oil :).

I wash with Redken Extreme ( I use Extreme because my hair is still fine in areas ) every few days, and then dry & apply coconut oil for body and shine.

How long is your hair?

When my hair was very short and I was very young, I used to have some dandruff. After shampooing every day, I no longer had any dandruff. Especially since keeping my hair long, I have never had any dandruff. My problem is my scalp is too much oily.

barbie~~
Just do it.

My hair is very thick, I've been told. Never have to worry about going bald people say, which is a good thing :) .Right now it is around the bottom of my neck in back, covers my ears on the side and my eyes can be covered in front.
