I expect to get my hormones late next week, or the following week. I have this sort of goofy idea about waiting 24 hours after getting them to make sure that I absolutely want to do this, a firewall of sorts. But I am guessing that once they arrive, my heart will be beating almost uncontrollably. The time before I start using them will be about 5 seconds longer than it will take to open the box. I am wondering if I should practice my box opening skills in the interim.

Hehe.

You can always back out after you try them. You will know quickly if it is not for you.

Have a tape knife ready, and practice opening child safety caps in the interim. I imagine you will have those skills perfected quite soon.

I told myself that I would wait a week or so after I obtained my prescription and begin taking them the day my legal name change became official. In reality I purchased a bottle of water on my way out of the pharmacy and took my first dose on the way to my car.  :D

Absolutely April. You definitely need to practice your parcel opening skills. Five seconds is just waaaaay tooooo long, girl. I wouldn't be satisfied until you were into the nanosecond region of timing. Good grief girl, what have you been dooooooooing.  ;D;D

You're right Chanel, how does "Let me at 'em" or if you need something a little more classical. "Give me those bloody little things."

It can't be too long, April will have the whole ceremony wrapped up within hopefully about 32 nanoseconds.
;D;D    ;D

My first was an injection, but I did sit there in the waiting room with a touch of the 'so this is it!'s running around my head.

They showed me through. The psych on hand gate kept a bit and said 'are you really sure about this?'

I was more sure than ever. I didn't even feel the needle go in.

I got my first shot in the butt and said, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for womankind."

I probably could've done better, but I was on the spot and the doc had just said, "Oops! A bit of blood."

I get shots in the arm now...

This idea of saying a little speech actually sounds like a pretty good idea to me. After all, it took me decades to get to this point, and it is not every day that you come to such a major branch in the road of your life's journey.

With a little practice, I guess I could open the box and speak at the same time, but it will probably end up sounding like a cliche.

"Let me at 'em" sounds about right to me too.  You can always take them for a short time and back out, no shame if you do.  If you take them for a week and it's just so right - well you know where you are going!

I have heard that exact same thing before: If you take them, you will know pretty quickly if they seem right for you. If it took only a week to know, that would be absolutely amazing. I am starting on what is basically a half dose from the standard recommended feminization regimen. I am even wondering if that is enough to see anything, let alone after one week. At the moment, I am feeling a lot of anxiety associated with my dysporia, and because of that, I am even more interested in the psychological benefits than the physical ones. I am hoping I feel mentally better with some E in my system.

I took mine the second I got home from the pharmacy.

I knew 2 hours later that it was the magic bullet.  YMMV, of course.

I think the psychological effects will kick in before you've taken enough to see any physical effects.  They did for me.

I have to admit that could not wait until I drove home well to be honest even left the pharmacy parking lot before i had my first dose ingested, I was so relieved to finally get a medically managed program
one day, one step, with grace it will be forward today

I had planned on opening the containers in the pharmacy. I got them, went into my car and drove home. I put them away and thought for a few hours while intermittently looking at them. I could not believe I was so close and all I had to do was take the pills. I gave myself a cooling off period and then I took the pills.  I wanted to make sure I did not have a second thought. I had no second thoughts. I wanted to wait 3 days till my birthday which I knew was not going to happen when I got the scripts. I just could not believe I was finally doing this. Now I have 2 birthdays :)

I got my Rx, went to my pharmacy, got them, went home and straight to the bathroom to take the first dose. Took about 5 days for the BIG smile to relax up a bit...:D

Good luck! Be careful with sharp objects if you've never trained to be a box-Ninja...!
