First of all I am so happy I found this forum and all of the people here!

Now then without going overboard with details. This is who I am in a nutshell and a little bit about where I am in this journey that does not have a destination on the ticket.

I am 49 years young, married 26 years, military 13 years, unhappy all my life, politics and the economy dealt my family a bad hand (aces and eights...lol), father died in may 2012, I was layed off in July 2012, wife was layed off in august 2012, sold the house, moved in with (shivers) my mother (sorry. Family is my life)..so, no work too much time on my hands...mind tries to catch up with life and feelings which have existed and always ignored....long story short...I called the Crisis Line in October. Have been seeing a therapist sine December...and...TADA!...she is referring me to a physiatrist...for HRT...my life's dream is coming true...only <sigh> here I am...no job.....living in my mothers house...the chance I have always dream of and I am so out of reach.

We all have an emotional bounce at every step, everything we gain sometimes seems to mirror a loss. Ultimately though the gains are greater. Yes there will be losses and tears and fights. There will be times that the wall seems impossible to crack, never mind break through.

HRT helps a lot as it settles your mind and yes your mind does change. This varies of course from person to person.

I still so remember the day I walked into my house and it was no longer there. It was my home, it was Cindy's home. My former male person had died, he lived in a house.

Yes your family life and job prospects are going to be a challenge but everything in life is a challenge. But facing those challenges as you rather than a pretend shell can be a lot easier.

And of course you now have a family that understands. We have all been through it, are facing it or somewhere in between.  But we are a supportive family and we are here always.

Hugs and Love.

Hi fzzybunny,

A big Aussie welcome to Susan's family. It's good of you to drop in and say "Hi". Hope you like it here, and you stay for a while.

There is a mountain of information, resources and friendship waiting for you here, you just need to jump in start talking and ask any question you like. You're quite safe here and we are very accepting.

So glad you are on the right track after such issues that pervaded your earlier life. The labyrinth gender issues present is not alway easily navigated. You've done well so far.

Looking forward to hearing more of your story in time to come, but in the meantime, be safe, well and happy.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine
