I use to work at a grocery store in the heart of boys town Chicago. The parade went by the front door every year. Some of the employee's would go up to the roof on watch it go by.

I don't usually go to ours here, but a lot of GLB friends don't either. It is just not my thing and we all have fairly busy lives. I am going to the one this spring though to see what they are like though. Here it seems to be a younger persons thing with not many over 40 or so in attendance. It can also get a little rowdy and some attract the wrong kind of publicity. :)

they close off a long stretch of a main street here until around 8 at night. every body from around the neighborhood sits around and talks. Its in a main business district and there a lot of bars and businesses . Its pretty peaceful.

I Just recently came out and never  went to the parade here in Toronto. I plan to go to the next one, as I always, always felt like I was missing out of something special. A real celebration of diversity, acceptance, and tolerance. Now that I have accepted this in myself, I want to show my support the next time around.

In my mind, I like to think that if I had the courage to come out when I was younger, I might have become a Trans* activist like Janet Mock.  :)
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.... Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

I participated in it last year, it was the best most fun parade I was ever in! I highly recommend it!
Don't judge a book by its cover! My lifes been like a country song! True love, amazing grace, severe heartbreak, buckles, boots n spurs! I 've been thrown off the bull a couple times, I keep getting up and dusting myself off! Can't give up on my happily ever after!

I showed up to a pride thing while on a date with a friend, which was great and she kept saying stuff like "now we can be lesbians and not worry about it!" It was a lot of fun, I'd do it again if I had someone to go with.

A few times in LA, but really had fun in SF as a gay male. I really look forward to going this year as a straight female!

I would LOVE to go, but there aren't any in my small, conservative town and I'm unable drive to a pride parade out of town.  :(

Where I live, it's pretty hard to completely ignore pride. There's at least 4 parades a year (Mardi Gras, Easter, Pride, Decadence) that cater to LGBT. That's not including any other random event that may have to do with LGBT that spontaneously or otherwise gets going. My mother and I accidentally watched the Gay Easter Parade as we were going about spending time together. She actually had a good time!

I avoid the Pride Parade. July in New Orleans isn't really the time or place to be outdoors!
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.
