Hi !
I'm a french high school student and I'm MtF (it's quite hard for me since my mother is a bit homophobic (but I dont love guys, but she thinks I do)) and I've loads of questions...
My facial hairs unfortunatly began to grow and I dont know what to do about it
People often say me I'm ugly due to it and my acne problems...
Also, I've very male-looking hair. It grows in thickness. How could I make it look more like female hair ?

Yep begin laser or electro now and begin hormone replacement therapy.

Also you cant want to be male to female. You are or your not really... Now you can however want/begin transitioning into a woman. Which automatically means your a male to female transsexual or transsexual woman for the scientific types. 

Talk to your doctor about the acne. There are very good treatments for it these days. As for your hair, short hair that has been worn in a male style tends to stand up and out more. The absolutely best way to make it look more feminine is to grow it long, but it will probably look odd for a few months until the weight of the length starts to pull it in a downward direction.

First of all. First things first. Although the advice above is right, you need to get your mother squared away first, before you race off onto the absolutely crazy world of transition.

If you have a school counsellor who can speak to your mother about transgender issues so an appropriate therapist can be found for you. Transition is not an overnight event. It takes years. Lets deal with the hair in due course. It's not the most important thing right this minute.

What are the pros and cons of both laser and electrolysis?

While I know it varies from person to person for a number of reasons (kind of hair, amount, cost of living in the area, etc), what is the average price to remove a beard/mustache of both?  What is the average cost per session?

Yes I know it's long to transition and I think it'll be longer since there is no school counsellor or a such person in my high school ; I dont know how it is in other countries but in France (or just in my high school ?) there arent school counsellors ... Maybe I should talk to my head teacher about this ?
Also, I've lot of questions and I searched answers to be prepared to transition.

I think Catherine is totally right here. You should being reaching out for a therapist. Therapy is great. I love it because it helped me so much in my life. You on the young side of life and have time on your side. I'm in the US so I don't know France, but I'm sure you can get counseling some where. especially with the help of teacher and mother. good luck

Laser is cheaper. Both will cost a good deal of money. Both are painful in their own ways. Laser may or may not work, depending on you specifically. Ask a laser specialist for an evaluation. They should tell you if you are a good or bad candidate for laser after they examine you. (Dark hair and light skin complexion are the absolute best combinations for laser.)

Electrolysis is guaranteed, takes longer, goes hair by hair, is more expensive.

Both can take months to a few years to complete because facial hair grows in waves over time.

LizMarie, I'm white but sun easily change my skin color and I have brown hair. You think it could be okay ?
Stephaniec, yes I think you're right, seeing a therapist would be great, but I first need to find one.

Good place to start. You simply need to ask for advice where you'll find a counsellor. You don't need to tell your head teacher as to why. You just need one. Depending how your school system is set up, there may be a counsellor that looks after several local schools. Your head teacher should know that.

If you have community health centres in you local area may also help. Otherwise your general practitioner (health professional) should know of one. If necessary you may have to arrange your Mum to book the appointment. You can simply state that you are feeling depressed and need professional help. I'm not aware how your health systems work.

My mom told me that if I needed to see a therapist if I'm feeling bad at school, I should tell her and we would go to ask our doctor. But this isnt the real reason... So I should lie to my mom ?

well, You are feeling bad. you can discuss that issue with your therapist the first thing. So you might be delaying the reason but your not lying. I think your mother more concerned with making sure your all right and to get you the help you need to become well. If you want to wait a little to tell her what's wrong with that.

I'll ask my mom to see a therapist first. I'll see when I'll speak about the real reason later.
