Hey all, since there is no Music section under the hobbies board I thought this to be a more suitable home. If anyone enjoys FFVIII as I do please give this a listen. Hope you all enjoy! I plan on redoing a few more from VIII but at the moment that means installing 40+ dvd's of information again...

this is actually probably my favorite final fantasy game to date, first game i played in the series and made me become a fan

I would have to agree with you Ryan, VIII is the best FF! I don't find to many people who rank VIII above VII.

I like 8 a lot, but it kind of just falls apart for me at the end when the craziness of the whole story collapses when the whole time travel thing comes up (literally). Still a great game though and I personally don't hold 7 above it at all. That goes to 9 for me.

On the music though, great job. Really love hearing songs like this.

Only played VIII, X and X-2. I have XII but haven't played it yet. Have never finished a single one.

I've never played VIII unfortunately. My favorite FF is probably X since it's the first one I ever played.

I think I still have my original copy of VIII, all four discs oh yeah.

Yeah X is my seconds favorite FF game. I enjoyed XII as well, but ->-bleeped-<- hit the fan when it reached XIII....

I have two copies of it lol, one a disc was scratched and didn't work, so got another copy of it before they stopped making playstation one games, they currently have it on steam now to download and play on the pc for people who never played it or want to play again

I've played 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. I'd like to play 14 but I don't have the computer for it. So far though 7 has been my favorite closely followed by 6. 10 was OK but anything after 10 for the Playstation just didn't do it for me (not to mention a WoW addiction).

I love a lot of the music for final Fantasy though and have a fair amount of live music on mp3.

I'm not sure I would say it was a better game, per se. But VIII is my favourite of the series for the overall package. VII was groundbreaking, but VIII was breathtaking, in my opinion. That's the difference, for me. Rinoa is probably my favourite character of all the games. Just ahead of Lulu (and Paine from X-2, which I didn't think was as bad as a lot of people made out.)

I agree with the latter entries being substandard, offline at least. XIII and XIII-2... well, they had the similar sort of feeling as Resident Evil 6. A prestigious brand name put to something which wasn't deserving of it and only very loosely associated with it. Very disappointing.

I'll check it out when I have access to my laptop.   Best game ever!  Though I suppose you could figure how I felt before I said anything, lol

I think...I think I might just start playing FF11 again....not sure why. Might just be the music.

Sorry, but the atrocious combat mechanics for VIII prevent it from being the best FF.  I don't care how great the rest of the game is (the story isn't even that great, although it might be a step up from FFVII)

I wanted to like FFVIII.  I really did.  It looked really good for its time, it has a great soundtrack, and the characters aren't atrociously annoying like the characters in FFVII were.  But, the Junction system is the worst combat mechanic in any Final Fantasy game I have played.

I terms of modern Final Fantasy games, I'd have to rank both FFX and FFVII as being more fun to play than FFVIII, although the extreme linearity of FFX is very annoying.

I respect your opinion, but I absolutely love everything about this game, including the things most people hate.  Maybe nostalgia and my inner child refuses to see the flaws of the beloved game of my youth, but it's just amazing in all respects.  Well, I did hate the tediousness of drawing magic, so I can understand dislike of that aspect of junctioning.  However, the story, music, characters, emotions.... it's just incredible.  Every time I play it I'm like a little girl again and it keeps me entertained.  Plus, triple triad is insanely addicting.

Still, I do love 10 and 7 as well.  Both are great games and always entertaining to play.  And while I can understand how some may not enjoy the linear nature of 10, that is part of its charm for me in a way.  It keeps the story in the forefront makes you feel like you are part of the long pilgrimage.

Oh well, we can't all agree.  That's what makes the world interesting and diverse as well as gaming. :)

Triple triad! Ahh the hours I spent playing a game in a game.

You are playing viii wrong if you are spending hours drawing magic. GF > refine magic > win.

If anyone else is thinking if playing XI again. I recently resubbed with my character on Odin. I have a few friends playin with me. I have never played an mmo with as much detail and complexity that XI has. I have never "quit" XI, but I take breaks.

I think final fantasy now is going downhill, final fantasy 13 was so linear and played more like an action rpg, then their core jrpg roots, dont get me wrong, final fantasy is great for graphics and music, can't beat that, but just feel like the stories and the core mechanics that made their older final fantasy games great, just is not there anymore, I'm hoping they will go back to their old roots with upcoming titles.

  •

Jessica Rush

They can't go back to their roots. Their roots are the writers from square. Square is long gone even if it included in the company title. XI was squares last ff title and even that now has been tainted by enix.
