Is there anyway to reduce swelling. I have a spot about the diameter of a tennis ball thats pretty swollen. was wondering if there was a way to reduce the swelling. I'm going to need to wear this compression vest for an additional 2 weeks but not the padding. Would putting padding over that one spot increase the pressure on the swelling? I'm going to probably switch from the vest into a tight binder as I have a vest thats to tight and a vest thats too loose. Any advice on how to reduce swelling?

I still have swelling/tenderness but I wasn't worried about it. I'm just waiting for it to go away naturally.

Depends on how many months this has gone on. I have some swelling 3 months post-op. It does go away but takes months (perhaps up to 12). If you are early on, binding would help. Don't think I could get myself to go in a binder now.

Yeah I'm only 6 days post op. Luckily I don't have to much swelling. my surgeon requires I wear a compression vest or binder post op fro 3 weeks. It was also recommended I wear a compression shirt for a few months afterwards.

I would do exactly what your surgeon says.  Nothing more, nothing less.  Don't make your own decisions on after care.

Healing is a long haul.  You just have to ride the waves.

Agree with the above - follow the surgeon's instructions to a T.

I wore a compression bandage for 3 weeks as directed. I'm 5 weeks post op now and still have some very slight puffiness on one side. The doc said that will most likely take a few months to go down completely, and that it's all part of the healing process.

Follow your surgeon's instructions ( I think we have an echo in here... Lol) and remember that all that money you paid does entitle you to call them with any and every pesky question you may have. If the swelling is bothersome give them a ring and ask if there is anything you can do. And remember to rest. I did notice that the swell got worse the more I moved about, especially my arms.
