I am just curious to know what height is "average" for a cis male and also how everyone here feels about their height?
I am male because I say so and nothing more.
I don't have to look or act like one therefore.

average cis male height depends on their country. for NA, it's about 5'7" - 5'9" but for other countries, it tends to be shorter. i think trans guys focus so much on their height because they think being short isn't a "manly" thing. you'll find a lot of cis males will be the same height as you though if you're short. that kind of stuff doesn't determine ones manliness and it won't narrow down your dating pool either tbh. i can tell you that from experience.

i'm short (about 5'3") it never bugged me and it never bugged girls i was with either (all being well over 5'5" - my current gf being 5'7"). if you care so much about your height then others will too. just ooze out confidence and no one will care about your height most of the time tbh.

Depends where the in the world you are: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Average_height_around_the_world

I don't like mine (5' 2"), it makes me dysphoric, but it's something I've got to make do with.  There's nothing I can do about it, and I've got to make the best of the situation by laughing about it before anyone else does so that they can't use it against me.

Wikipedia has a table of the average heights for both male and female around the world, if you're curious.

I'm 170 cm tall (I've no idea what that is in imperial, maybe 5'6"?), and that is rather short for a Danish man. *Sigh* I don't feel short unless I'm in an all-male environment, but then again, I'm hardly ever the shortest guy in the room.

According to the Wikipedia table, a Finnish man is 1,7-1,79m (5'9½"-5'10½"?) on average and I'm about 1,64m (~5,38ft) which is more like the female average so that makes me kinda short-ish.
But that's just one of the things I can't change so I won't bother myself with it. I've seen cis guys shorter than I am and I can always make comments about taller guys needing their own radio frequences at those heights. :D Besides, I get wet later when it rains!

Height was something that never bothered me. It doesn't hinder my passing, either. I can see why it would make other people dysphoric, but I don't think it's a hinderance to passing in most cases.

I'm 5'1" and a slight frame. I don't have any trouble passing either (11 months on T). I have never heard a nasty or sarcastic comment. Carry yourself with confidence. There are very short cismen as well.

What I find interesting is the average national height of men here in Australia is 5'9" according to that link, but by far when I'm out and about I see probably at least half of the guys walking around are my height (5'6 1/2") or shorter.

I agree that it shouldn't really be a hinderance to passing at all - but I suppose in a place where you have a majority of guys being fairly tall, I could see how it would make one feel a bit worried.

But there's so much more to passing than just height.  It's body language, too - and plenty of guys pass just fine who are heaps short just because they have confidence.  Being on T will be helpful for most guys with the changes in hairiness, etc., but I don't look at a short person and wonder if they're male or female based on their height alone.  I don't think anyone does.

I'm 5'2 and it drives me crazy most times xD but what can one do?

US men are 5'9 1/2" to 5'10 1/2" I am 5'9 1/2" so I'm nearly dead average. I find that to be true in my life that I'm about average, except for the fact that i have really tall family. I wish I was really tall but I don't dislike my height.

I don't really feel bad until I'm around my tall family members or people are actually talking about it. I feel the same about my shoe size, 9-10 depending.

The person that makes me most self conscious is my father because he makes fun of me for little stuff and he doesn't think it matters. He attacks me for very personal stuff. Some of it is emotionally abusive. I have small feet, I'm short, I'm scrawny, I have no muscle, I'm fat, I'm selfish, I'm a failure.

This IS emotional abuse. You could be short and have no muscle but you aren't selfish and you certainly are not a failure because you are being who you really are, and not everybody has to do something to get that to happen.

I'd like to be taller than 5'3 just so I don't need a stool to stock the top shelf at work. Otherwise it hasn't really bugged me.

walking around i find im a pretty average height for a guy, (5'10) which is slightly above US average i guess. I can't really say much about being shorter and dysphoria about it, I got lucky i guess

Well I'm 177cm (5'9.5-5'10ish) at the doctor's office (although I reckon I'll get a tiny bit taller when I finally feel comfortable standing properly after top surgery) which puts me a tiny bit above the Aussie average male height, and a tiny bit below the average for my age range (young men tend to be taller so the numbers are slightly different).

Occasionally I feel a twinge of jealousy when standing next to a tall guy in my class or something, but I think that is less about being trans and more just normal human insecurities. I am the exact same height as my father so I'm not really in a position to complain about it :P. I don't think being short prevents passing that much because humans vary so much in things like height anyway.

If you are ever feeling bad about your height, remember: short people live longer.

5'9-5'10 in North America is average. I'm 5'7 and I've meet a lot if guys my height and shorter. It's never hindered my passing. I'm just fine with my height. Actually, I can't imagine being taller since I've been the same height for about a decade.

I'm currently in Japan and the average height here is 5'7 so I'm right there. But I've seen guys who are well over 6 feet and well under 5'7. I've seen plenty of girls here who are over 6 foot too but also adult women who come to my rib cage. The height differences are crazy.

I'm in the USA and 5'7". I feel comfortable with my height, never thought twice about it actually. My show size though is small for a guy in America though and only 8.5.

i'm just 4'9'' - too short even while Asians are considered shorter
i try to ignore it but when my friends make fun of it i get hurt-they are around 5'2'' to 5'5''-that's not too tall either maybe to make fun of someone else
i want to be at least 5' but don't think too much growth is left now (as if there was any in the past)- i wont be able to ride in adventure parks or be an astronaut and will miss out on so many things!
But considering how big I have become from 2 small things one of which should have been a y-one for me to grow taller and my life to be better, i try not to feel sad about it.

Like others have said, it depends.

I'm pretty tall for my age and I'll probably get taller when I get older. I'm 5'10" right now.

I'm short, I'm 5'3, it doesn't really hinder my passing, it's just that I think some extra height would definitely help and strengthening my status as a guy. I'm young and I'm hoping T will help.

the world is so tall! why are we south asians stuck so short? well i just checked the wikipedia chart and it says for our country, avrg height for males 5'4n1/2, and for females 4'11n1/2. the data is not big news to me as it is pretty much the same i've noticed on roadsides all there years. i'm around 5'2-3 (didnt really get it measured properly since measuring it at age 12 for student health report) and i'm usually taller than many girls, and an inch or so shorter than many men i encounter. there are lots of men with my height, and a considerable number shorter than me. i wish i were around 5'5, but probably i won't be treated as a 'shortie' if i tried to pass.
