I know the ribcage of a (cis) male is often bigger and wider than that of a (cis) female. And i also know that a early hormone treatment may stop the shoulders and ribcage from expanding.
But i think there's a possibility, that genetics play a bigger role than hormones.
Even with the female hormones in my System (started at Age 12 now 18), i developed (i think) broad shoulders and a wider ribcage. :-\
My shoulder width is 16.5 inches and my rib-cage width 11.4 inches (across!) and my height is 5'6.
Im very self conscious about my Body. :( Maybe im overreacting a little bit, so that's why i want to know your:

-Shoulder width
-Ribcage width (across)
-Height

If you've been on early hormone treatment then the genetics expressed in regards to skeletal frame will be 99.9% female, not male. Being born XX will have made little difference to your frame. Testosterone is responsible for the typical male skeleton. Maybe compare yourself to other females in your family?

I have the exact body type like my mother (she is hourglass shaped with broad shoulders, hips and a small waist). But my sister is so petite framed(pear shape with a very narrow ribcage). I read that high estrogen levels make you pear shaped. Could it just be genetics that i got my mothers body shape?

It really does sound like you've inherited your mother's genes. Is your mother self-conscious of her body? You've just got more a more modelesque physique than your sister, that's all. This is fascinating, though. How tall are your sister and mother?

Thanks. ^-^ Sometimes she can be self conscious too. Then we're both dreaming of the petite body of my sister. My mother is around 5'4 and my sister 5'2 or 3 i think. She is older than me but shorter in height.

If you do not like your lower ribcage do what I do. I am re training my lower ribs into a more feminine shape with the use of corset's. It takes a while, but does work. :)

Thanks for your advice. I appreciate it. It's not really the shape that i don't like. I have a very curvy body. It's more the width that i don't like. That's why asked for your measurements.

My wife has 22" shoulders and is 37" around the rib cage. I think it's just genetics, and you got the curvy version from your mom. :) Sorry.

(I am 16" at the shoulder and 38" around the rib cage; not sure what that translates to in terms of "across.")

Tight long term corset training will do wonders for you girl! I can fully approve of its visual effects because I wear either several waist cinchers or a corset everyday. Due to this, my frame has much more appealing portions.  ;D Plus don't forget to exercise your back muscles because they will become weak over time.

Hope this will help you out  :-*

Im talking about the width across the ribcage not the circumference.

Thanks. But im talking about my upper ribs. My lower ribs slope gentle in. I don't want a smaller waist. It'd just look crazy. :-\

Both you and your mum dreaming of your sister is kind of cute. There's no real reason to be insecure. But as women, we often compare against other women. It's a natural thing to do. Women come in all shapes and sizes. You probably have features that your sister dreams of having, and not just brains! BTW, where are you measuring the width of your ribcage? Above the waist or at breast level or further up?

At the widest point(breast level). But not around meant across. It's the same way you measuring the width of your shoulders. :)

At the bra strap, my width looks to be about 11.75", shoulders about 16.75" and height 5'9". I've never not passed with those measurements. I do a lot of weightlifting squats to get my bum nice and shapely. My hips could be wider though! I did do some liposculpture to take fat from the waist into the outer thighs.

Do you think you have a wide ribcage? Or even narrow? Those hormones gonna make me crazy :-\
Here my full measurements in width:
Shoulders: 16.5 inches
Ribcage: 11.4 inches
Waist: 9.8 inches
Hip bones: 15.5 inches

If the avatar is you then you certainly don't have a wide chest. You look nicely in proportion. I really don't know if I have a wide chest or not. My mother has a similar width, but she has narrower shoulders.

Just Shelly

Just Google typical female measurements you will find many more are bigger and a few are smaller.

I am 16-17" shoulders....not sure exact since its hard to measure. My rib cage...unsure of the across....but if I put a book on each side and measure I come up with 11" also. The circumference is 29.5".

IDK...I still seem big even though all my tops are either small or XS and I have been told numerous times I am petite....are you kidding!! Its really how we perceive ourselves...sometimes I will see a cute top and look at it and think OMG this will never fit...only to try it on.....and it does!!

That was a pic of candice swanepoel. I photoshopped it to show you my proportions.
